WWE SmackDown Results

Coming out of Super ShowDown WWE can now build towards Wrestlemania. Less than six weeks away and with many major matches not set, the build will need to be fast tracked. Kickstarting it will be the return of John Cena. How did WWE start the build? The full results are here:

Two huge Wrestlemania matches were made on Friday night. John Cena came out to close the show, and as many predicted was met by The Fiend. Without a word being uttered, a match between the two was made official six years after their first Wrestlemania meeting. While some may have wanted a title match between these two, this featured singles match will have to do.

The Universal Championship match has also been set. Originally WWE had been locally advertising an Elimination Chamber match to determine the challenger at Wrestlemania. That has seemingly been scrapped. Goldberg opened the show and was interrupted by the biggest of dogs, Roman Reigns. Reigns simply announced that he was next, and now it is official for Wrestlemania.

Replacing the previous Elimination Chamber match will be a tag team chamber match. Miz & Morrison will defend the titles against The Usos, New Day, Lucha House Party, Roode & Ziggler, and Heavy Machinery. Last time WWE did a tag team elimination chamber it was a bit of a gong show, so it will be interesting to see if the quality of the match is equal to the quality of the competitors.

Miscellaneous WWE Notes:

• Another match was made for Elimination Chamber. Braun Strowman will defend his Intercontinental Championship in a handicap match against Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro, and Sami Zayn.
• Stephanie McMahon commented on how the Coronavirus may affect Wrestlemania (h/t Fightful). She said WWE will continue to monitor it and make decisions internally about what to do going forward.
• Jeff Hardy will be on WWE Backstage this Tuesday.
