No one could have imagined that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would acquire the best quarterback and tight end in the same offseason.
For a team that hasn’t made a Super Bowl since 2002, or won a playoff game since 2007, this is a huge win. They even have an opportunity to be the first team to play a Super Bowl in there home stadium. On paper, this offense looks like one of, if not, THE best units in the league with the addition of Rob Gronkowski. Gronk joins a Bucs offense that consists of Tom Brady under center, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, O.J. Howard, and Cameron Brate. A formidable unit for sure.

After watching Brady and Gronkowski for years, it’s undeniable they have a deep connection on the field. Something Brady has yet to establish with any of his new teammates. After a season off, the potential for Gronkowski to dominate in this Bucs offense is there. In nine seasons with the Patriots, Gronkowski had 79 touchdowns, 521 receptions, and 7,861 yards.
Gronk also has a knack for the big play. His final catch before his brief retirement came in the final minutes of Super LIII. The 29-yard pass from Brady set the Patriots on the goal line and they scored the eventual game-winning touchdown just moments later. One of many game-changing plays from the duo. Something they would now like to replicate in Tampa.
In addition to his pass-catching prowess, Gronk is one of the best blocking tight ends in the game. He will create holes and spaces for running back Ronald Jones to run through. As well as whoever else they add in the draft. His 6-foot-6, 265-pound frame combined with O.J. Howard at 6-foot-6 and 242 pounds, will create a lot of holes for the running back and make the offensive line’s job easier. It will also help in pass protection. Especially since Brady loves the short pass and screens which some time takes a while to develop.
Gronk coming back is clear it’s all about playing for Brady as that is his quarterback. Both he and Brady will thrive, and dominate, in Tampa. It was clear they both needed a change and, in this case, the grass is greener on the other side.
For the first time in a while, the Bucs are Super Bowl contenders. This is the new reality when you have Tom Brady under center and now, Rob Gronkowski catching passes from him once again.
