With the twenty-first overall pick, the Philadelphia Eagles selected TCU WR Jalen Reagor. With Justin Jefferson still on the board, Howie and company went with the guy they felt was the best fit. Reagor adds speed that the Eagles offense desperately missed last season. He’s not a one-trick pony, though. He can make adjustments in the air and has good hands. Reagor never dropped a red zone pass in his three year career at TCU. Carson Wentz finally gets himself a dynamic wideout that can flip the field at any moment.

Positive Outlook

Reagor may not have been the sexiest pick nor the pick that most fans wanted. He is, however, a perfect fit for this Eagles offense. Reagor is a playmaker, something that Philadelphia did not have for the majority of the 2019 season. The Eagles prioritized speed in the first round. Reagor’s speed is eye-opening, and his versatility in the offense is precisely what Philadelphia needed. He can be a returner or take a handoff from the backfield. He is an all-around threat. If DeSean Jackson can stay healthy, this Eagles offense upgraded. If you haven’t read or seen much about Reagor, take a minute and watch the below video. You won’t be disappointed.

Addressing Initial Concerns

Reagor wasn’t mentioned with the upper echelon of WR’s in this years draft. In his career at TCU, Reagor had 148 receptions for 2,248 yards and 22 receiving touchdowns. Unfortunately, poor quarterback play hindered his potential while at TCU. Take a look at the numbers below in regards to accurate passes.

As the tweet says, give Reagor better quarterback play and who knows what his numbers would have been.

Initial Thoughts

While I think the Eagles were holding out hope that CeeDee Lamb was going to fall to 21, I think they did well here. Reagor fills a glaring need in this Eagles offense, and they didn’t have to give up any assets to get him. On top of that, Reagor’s presser was perfect. Here are a few quotes from it:

“It’s Carson Wentz. His name speaks for itself. It’s just a surreal feeling. I’ve watched Carson Wentz. Wow this dude is amazing. And now he’s my quarterback. It’s a blessing.”

“What better organization to go to than the Philadelphia Eagles.

If you didn’t like the kid yet, here’s the moment he was drafted. Jalen Reagor is going to be a difference-maker on the Philadelphia Eagles.
