With the 158th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select…
Name: Bryce Hall
Position: Cornerback
School: Virginia
The New York Jets add great value to the team by drafting Cornerback, Bryce Hall. The former Virginia Cavalier fills a large void for Gang Green and is a great fit in Greg Williams’ defense.
Breakdown
Bryce Hall profiles as the type of cornerback the Jets are craving; a press corner who can tackle. Hall was a projected first-round talent after his junior season at Virginia. Deciding to come back for his Senior year costed Hall as he broke his fibula in his seventh game. During his Junior season, Hall intercepted two passes and broke up 21 for the year. Hall finished that 2018 season as an All-Conference ACC and All-American recipient. On top of Hall’s impressive ability to play press coverage, he also is looked at as a great blitzer. Credited with four sacks and 9.5 tackles for a loss in his career, Hall proves to be a play-maker. Hall will make a difference in both the pass and run game.

A Great Fit for Greg Williams
Jets’ Defensive Coordinator, Greg Williams is as aggressive as they come. The team now has made two selections in this draft that will make him happy. Ashtyn Davis and Bryce Hall are two versatile players who can line up in multiple positions. Both players will be asked to lock up receivers and get to the quarterback. Williams is creative in his blitz schemes and having two players like Davis and Hall will allow him to work. Having a player like Hall to lock up on the outside will allow players like Jamal Adams to play more freely. Before the injury, Hall was a first-round caliber player. This pick could be one of the steals of the draft if he can get back to that level.
Gang Green Remaining Needs
Joe Douglas has done an outstanding job addressing the Jets’ needs in his short run as General Manager. At this point in the draft, it’s about finding impact players that can help the team, whether that’s rotational or on special teams. In terms of needs, the Jets could add another name in the receiver room. A flyer with a high-upside talent that Hines Ward could develop is where the team should look. Another place the Jets could improve is in the kicking game. A kicker and punter could be in the works later in the draft.
