With the 81st pick, the Las Vegas Raiders selected WR Bryan Edwards from South Carolina. The Raiders used consecutive picks on wide receivers. Yet, Edwards strikes a different tone for the Raiders. With so much emphasis placed on separation, the team chose to veer in another direction.
Contact
Nothing about Bryan Edwards’ game is finesse-driven. Granted, he shows a knack for the occasional shiftiness in the open field. However, he gets downhill will the ball and does not mind manhandling a corner that stands in his way. Now, this also applies to contact catches. Edwards isn’t shy about bodying a corner for a 50/50 ball. Edwards fights before, during, and after the catch.
Speed
Despite his frame, Edwards generates enough separation to run past the first wave of defenders. Now, he won’t blur by anyone. Edwards displays the burst to get open and make defenses pay at all three levels of the field.
