With the NFL Draft is officially coming to a close and the Atlanta Falcons have spent their final pick on a Punter. Certainly not the sexiest pick, but it is a position of need. Sterling Hofrichter recorded one of the best hang times in the class and he also can boom it.
As always, the Falcons are always preaching competition and it is no different when it comes to the skills position. Hofrichter is not guaranteed to be the starter in 2020 but I would say that he is very likely to be the guy. Ryan Allen took over the punting duties when Matt Bosher went out with injury last fall.
The release of punter Sam Irwin-Hill earlier today makes a little more sense now. Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff got himself a punter who will likely take over the kickoff duties and a guy who is not afraid to make a tackle.
