WWE SmackDown Results

Two Money in the Bank qualifying matches took place on Friday night from the WWE Performance Center. With only a little over a week remaining before Money in the Bank, how did WWE build towards one of their most important shows? Here are the full results:

  • Daniel Bryan def. King Corbin by disqualification
  • Sheamus def. Leon Ruff
  • Carmella def. Mandy Rose to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match
  • Forgotten Sons def. New Day
  • Otis def. Dolph Ziggler to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match

The Otis-Mandy-Sonya-Dolph storyline was woven nicely into both qualifying matches. Sonya Deville provided enough of a distraction to Mandy Rose that she lost to an opportunistic Carmella. Deville even got to say bitch on television, twice. She would beat down Rose after the bell.

It was Rose’s boo Otis that won his qualifying match, inserting himself into the hunt for the briefcase. No outside interference or funny business, just the big man getting another big W over Dolph Ziggler.

In a bizarre but interesting move, WWE announced that both the Men’s & Women’s Money in the Bank matches will be taking place simultaneously. How they will interact is still anyone’s guess, but it is looking to be more cinematic in nature. Any bets on who gets to the top of WWE HQ first?

Firefly Funhouse made it’s return on Friday, with Bray Wyatt reading Braun Strowman the story of the Black Sheep. I had honestly forgotten that these two were the Universal Championship program at this point. The feud is missing a certain something, and it may be that Strowman’s title run feels out of place to begin with. Hopefully the belt goes back to The Fiend so all can be reset.

Kalisto Confirms Injury

If you’re wondering why Lucha House Party is a duo instead of it’s usual trio, here’s your answer. Kalisto confirmed on his YouTube channel (h/t WrestlingInc) that he has been out with an injury. It was speculated that Kalisto was injured in late December 2019, and that was confirmed by him in the video. The injury’s nature was not confirmed, but early reports indicated it was a shoulder injury.

One for the Road:

Happy 48th Birthday to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Here’s a nice Top 10 of him laying the verbal smackdown on some candy-asses.
