The Wrestling Roundup is here to bring you all the news and rumors you need to know in one place.
WWE SmackDown Results
The first SmackDown of Otis’ run as Mr. Money in the Bank was on Friday night. Scheduled for the show was the start of the Intercontinental Championship tournament and an appearance by Charlotte Flair. What all happened on SmackDown? We’ve got you covered:
- Elias def. King Corbin in an Intercontinental Championship Tournament quarterfinal match
- Dana Brooke def. Naomi
- Daniel Bryan def. Drew Gulak in an Intercontinental Championship Tournament quarterfinal match
- Otis & Braun Strowman def. Miz & Morrison
Otis was the star of this show, getting a prime spot on MizTV and a main event slot. He infuriated Miz by being himself, and had to find a tag partner because Tucker was unavailable. Otis found one in Universal Champion Braun Strowman. After winning the tag match, Otis even teased a cash-in on Strowman. No cash-in on this night, but Otis is being presented in a pretty fun way as Mr. Money in the Bank.
The Intercontinental Championship tournament has a great field. Elias beat Corbin and Daniel Bryan moved on, plus next week we get two more great first round matchups. A.J. Styles versus Shinsuke Nakamura and Sheamus versus Jeff Hardy will both be amazing. Potential winner of the tournament – don’t sleep on Sheamus getting the midcard title push.

Charlotte Flair made an appearance on SmackDown, implementing the brand-to-brand invitation. She went on about how great she was before being interrupted by Bayley and Sasha Banks. Charlotte did a great job of stirring the pot between Bayley & Banks. Next week we’ll get champion versus champion on SmackDown, and it should be an excellent match.
Undertaker Signed Long-Term WWE Contract
In August 2019, Undertaker was reportedly signed a “life-time” deal with WWE. This was in response to him agreeing to do Starrcast and other non-WWE events. Dave Meltzer is now reporting the length of the deal Undertaker signed is years (h/t WrestlingInc). That would definitely make Undertaker a WWE lifer, and prevent him from making appearances for other companies.
Original MITB Plans For Raw Women’s Championship
The pregnancy of Becky Lynch apparently threw some crafted plans by WWE into disarray. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plans called for Nia Jax to wrestle Lynch at Money in the Bank. The briefcase would have been won by Shayna Baszler to continue their feud (h/t CagesideSeats). Once the information was known about Lynch’s pregnancy, WWE called the audible to the plans we see now.
