WWE Raw Recap

The next big women’s feud on Raw has seemingly been decided. Nia Jax interrupted a celebration for Asuka and had an issue with the way Asuka won the women’s belt. Later, Jax assaulted Kairi Sane backstage while she played the flute. Asuka got revenge on Jax in her own backstage attack. The new champion was portrayed as a babyface here, playing on her reaction to receiving the championship from Becky Lynch.

The IIconics have some IIconflict. During their title shot against Bliss & Cross, Peyton Royce got the team disqualified. She couldn’t stop when the referee told her to, leading to the DQ. Backstage the IIconics got into an argument, leading Billie Kay to slap Royce. They hugged afterwards, but it could lead to more conflict later on. Let’s hope it doesn’t, because Royce & Kay work amazingly as a duo.

Kevin Owens returned, and he brought along a friend to the Kevin Owens Show. Apollo Crews made his return during the segment and took the fight to Andrade. The two of them will be having a United States Championship match next week. That could be a really solid contest if given some time.

Austin Theory is out of Zelina’s stable, and has maybe found a new home with Seth Rollins. Theory accidentally cose Garza & Andrade their match, and was promptly beaten and tossed into chairs. Rollins found Theory at ringside and extended his hand, and that was all that was needed. He jumped into the Murphy-Black match and helped with the beatdown of Aleister Black. Theory makes for another formidable disciple of the Monday Night Messiah.

Backlash Card Filling Out

Our first match for Backlash has been confirmed. Edge & Randy Orton kicked off this week’s Raw with Edge responding to Orton’s challenge. The Rated R Superstar accepted, meaning we get these two in a straight-up singles match at Backlash.

The WWE Championship feud is set too. Bobby Lashley has moved on from Lana and installed MVP as his manager. He will be challenging Drew McIntyre at Backlash for the WWE Championship. Two hosses who can go in the ring, this could make for a great title clash. McIntyre dispatched Corbin on Raw as well, but we all knew that would happen.

Former WWE Wrestler Shad Goes Missing In Ocean

Some truly tragic news came on Monday. Shad Gaspard, one half of Cryme Tyme in WWE, went missing when he was swimming with his son after being caught in a rip current (h/t WrestlingInc). Both Gaspard and his ten-year-old son were in the rip current, and reports say that Gaspard indicated to lifeguards to save his son first. They did, but then they have not found Gaspard after submerging. No further reports have been given on the status of the search.

One for the Road:

Raw also featured an axe-throwing competition between The Viking Raiders and The Street Profits. These are getting more enjoyable each week.
