Quietly the Atlanta Falcons have had a very productive offseason. The Falcons had an open roster spot and filled it with the former first round pick, Deone Bucannon.
Bucannon is an intriguing add for the Falcons as they continue to build on the defense. Not only will Bucannon be able to make an impact at linebacker, but he will play a role at safety as well. His athleticism and versatility is something that likely stood out to Dan Quinn.
#Falcons keep stockpiling former first-round picks and sign linebacker Deone Bucannon (He was taken 27th overall in 2014 by the #Cardinals) — https://t.co/AwdGXLCeho

Provided that Bucannon makes the roster, he would make 17 former first round picks on the 53-man roster. Although it is unclear at this point where he will fit into the defense, he likely competes at linebacker. We can expect him to have a vital role on special teams and be a viable backup.

Bucannon won’t be an addition that makes an impact in the starting lineup. However, he can be a valuable contributor to the defense and adds experience to the back end.
