Latvian coach Peteris Skudra has been named head coach of Dinamo Riga club announced on Monday.

”On July 20th Dinamo Riga board held a meeting and named Skudra as the new head coach of the hockey club. The board has tasked Skudra to research and offer the board names of potential assistants as well as the potential players.”

Skudra a former goalie spent seven seasons in the NHL. During his coaching career, he has worked as a goaltending coach for Severstal Cherepovets, assistant coach for Sibir Novosibirsk as well as spending five years as the head coach of Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Last year he started as the head coach for Traktor Chelyabinsk but his tenure there was cut short as he was let go on November 2nd.

His deal with Dinamo Riga is for one year. The team is supposed to begin training camp in the near future. Dates and schedules are set to be announced later.
