The Wrestling Roundup is here to bring you all the news and rumors you need to know in one place.

WWE SmackDown Results

SmackDown this week was anchored by a bar fight. That’s right, WWE continues to want us to focus on Jeff Hardy’s real life struggles with alcohol as he battles Sheamus in a bar. The show also had two #1 Contender’s matches and Matt Riddle in action. Here are the full results:

  • Nikki Cross def. Alexa Bliss to become #1 Contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship
  • Matt Riddle def. Tony Nese
  • Gran Metalik def. Chad Gable, Lince Dorado, & Drew Gulak to become #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship
  • Jeff Hardy def. Sheamus in a Bar Fight

The most important development of the night: we’re getting a Big E singles run. Kofi Kingston is out injured, and is giving E his blessing to get some singles accolades. A timeline where Big E gets a push and New Day don’t break up? Did I write this?

WWE also addressed the #NaomiDeservesBetter movement, kind of. Naomi truly does deserve better than karaoke segments. She got into it with Lacey Evans, and hopefully Evans will just be a stepping stone for Naomi on her way to title glory.

We knew it was going to be Fiend versus Strowman for the title, but Wyatt still spelled it out for us in the Funhouse this week.

WARHORSE Challenging Cody Rhodes

Indie wrestling fans rejoice because WARHORSE is coming to AEW to beat some ass. Cody Rhodes has been running the TNT Championship open challenge each week, and his opponent for next week has already been announced. WARHORSE is a big favorite among the independent wrestling community. Check out his Twitter and some of his clips if you haven’t seen his stuff and get excited for Wednesday night.

WWE Trademarks Interesting NXT UK Trademark

Could we be seeing another NXT UK tournament in our future? According to PWInsider, WWE recently trademarked “NXT UK Heritage Cup”. NXT UK has had two amazing tournaments in the past, so going to that well again wouldn’t be a surprise. What exactly a Heritage Cup entails is anyone’s guess.

One for the Road:

After 20 years, AEW is replacing WWE on SkySports in Italy (h/t Fightful). According to the Wrestling Observer, AEW will now be on Friday nights and will replace SmackDown. To celebrate, here’s the debut of one of wrestling’s greatest Italians featuring Vince McMahon in a fedora.
