“I was stunned. But I was angry because I feel like I’m in best health I’ve been in” – Ron Rivera via Adam Schefter

If there were to ever be a 2020 moment happen to the Washington Football Team, it happened tonight

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that head coach Ron Rivera has been diagnosed with lymph node cancer. The cancer is in its early stages and there is a treatment plan already being put into place. It is also being reported that this form of cancer is “very treatable.”

There is also a ‘Plan B’ being established should Ron not be able to coach at some point this year.

In what has been an extremely turbulent offseason—even for this franchise—Rivera has led with a calming voice and a steady hand. He has been intimately integral in a culture change on—and more importantly—off the field in the halls of Ashburn.

The team will have to rely on their veteran leaders and likely defensive coordinator Jack del Rio should Rivera need to miss some time.
