The Wrestling Roundup is here to bring you all the news and rumors you need to know in one place.
WWE NXT Results
We have made it to the go-home show for NXT TakeOver: 30th Birthday. Okay, wrong name but it is true. We had two more qualifiers for the NXT North American Championship Ladder match, as well as an appearance by Punter/Podcaster Pat McAfee ahead of his first match. Here are the results from this week’s NXT:
- Johnny Gargano def. Ridge Holland to earn a spot in the NXT North American Championship Ladder Match
- Legado del Fantasma def. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott & Breezango
- Rhea Ripley & Shotzi Blackheart def. Aliyah & Mercedes Martinez
- Velveteen Dream def. Finn Balor to earn a spot in the NXT North American Championship Ladder Match
I know you’re curious, so here’s the promo that Pat McAfee cut during his appearance. Spoiler: it’s actually pretty good.
Renee Young Leaving WWE
WWE is reportedly losing one of the best announcers and most versatile broadcasters sometime soon. Reports emerged on Wednesday that Renee Young has asked to leave WWE and has given her notice (h/t CagesideSeats). Young has been an amazing piece for WWE, taking up roles on pre-shows, in the announce booth, and most notably on the criminally underrated Talking Smack. She will represent a major loss to the WWE product. I’ve been a fan of Young since before her time in WWE (having watched her in Canada on TheScore) and she will have her choice of any broadcasting role going forward. Best of luck to her wherever she chooses to go.
Impact Star Appears at ROH Tapings
A big name from the recent WWE releases has made his way to Ring of Honor. At their next tapings, ROH will debut EC3 – Ethan Carter III (h/t Fightful). EC3 has already popped up in Impact after his release from WWE, and seems to be invigorated by his new surroundings. Seeing him in ROH should be an interesting development.
