It’s the biggest party of the summer, but you also will never see it coming. So I guess it’s a surprise party this year? Regardless, it’s time for WWE Summerslam live from the Thunderdome. As always, we think we know exactly what will happen and are offering up our predictions for this year’s show. Here are our predictions for Summerslam 2020:

Street Profits (c) vs Andrade & Angel Garza – Raw Tag Team Championships
Evan Gomes, FPC Wrestling Editor: Strangely this is one of the most difficult matches to call on the card. Both teams have been excellent, so I’m going purely with personal preference. Give me a Montez frog splash.
Pick: Street Profits
Javier Melo, FPC Contributor: I really just want Andrade and Angel Garza to break off and go on their own, but I don’t see that happening. There aren’t any other teams for the Street Profits to face after this feud so just change the titles and see what happens. It’s all useless anyways under Vincent Kennedy.
Pick: Andrade & Garza
Kaden Hanafi, FPC Contributor: Andrade and Garza are much better on their own. Hopefully they lose and it leads to the breakup.
Pick: Street Profits

Sonya Deville vs Mandy Rose – Hair vs Hair, Loser Leaves WWE No DQ Match
Evan: Sonya Deville is going to look like a complete badass with a shaved head. I think she will be a force like never before if her head is shaved. She can “leave WWE” and show up in the Raw Underground a bit later and start taking names.
Pick: Mandy Rose
Javier: Deville has been EXCELLENT since turning heel and I think a big win here could elevate her to the next level. With that said, they made it a loser leaves town match and with everything going on in Deville’s personal life, it could be a way of giving her some deserved time off. My gut says Deville pulls out the win.
Pick: Sonya Deville
Kaden: This is now a loser leaves town match which I think is being used for Sonya to be written off TV for a bit. She needs a little time off due to her situation, so Mandy wins here.
Pick: Mandy Rose

Apollo Crews (c) vs MVP – United States Championship
Evan: Remember when Crews cheated to beat Shelton Benjamin a month or so ago, and we thought a heel turn was coming shortly? I still think a turn is coming during this reign, but it can’t happen against MVP. Crews holds on.
Pick: Apollo Crews
Javier: Why the heck isn’t this Lashley? I don’t get that. Anyways, this isn’t a basketball game and barring interference from Cedric Alexander (“you never see it coming”), Apollo keeps his title.
Pick: Apollo Crews
Kaden: There is simply no reason for MVP to hold a belt in 2020. Have Apollo win and face Lashley at Payback.
Pick: Apollo Crews

Seth Rollins vs Dominick Mysterio – Street Fight
Evan: The Street Fight stipulation could benefit the new kid on the block, but it also means Rollins’ disciples can interfere as well. Mysterio is going to put up a valiant effort, and he will be a player on the roster soon. He falls just short in match one.
Pick: Seth Rollins
Javier: If this were a regular match, I’d choose Rollins. This is a Street Fight for a reason: Dominick is green and they want to make it believable that he can beat a multiple time world champion in the prime of his career. I don’t know how it happens, but Eddie’s son wins.
Pick: Dominick Mysterio
Kaden: The street fight could mean anything, but I think Dom loses here and sets up a tag match for Payback that he wins.

by Full Press Coverage on March 25, 2023 at 12:09 am
Pick: Seth Rollins

Bayley (c) vs Asuka – SmackDown Women’s Championship
Evan: Once WWE made a point of announcing the order of these matches, it set up a pretty likely way of how this will shake out. Bayley escapes the first one, but Asuka still has one more shot.
Pick: Bayley
Javier: Ideally, I would’ve gone full Wrestlemania 2000 on this and had a triple threat with both titles up for grabs on two different falls. That isn’t happening, so Bayley wins through questionable means.
Pick: Bayley
Kaden: Asuka is facing Bayley first so I think she’ll lose this match. This will lead to my prediction for Sasha and Asuka.
Pick: Bayley

Sasha Banks (c) vs Asuka – Raw Women’s Championship
Evan: I truly don’t think this loss will be the thing that breaks up Banks & Bayley. WWE is going to milk this partnership until they have full crowds back, not just the Thunderdome. Still, Asuka ruins the Two-Woman Power Trip by taking the belt here.
Pick: Asuka
Javier: They are building towards Asuka and Shayna Baszler and in order for that match to have proper legs, they need a title. The long term story is between Bayley and Banks so have Bayley cost Sasha her title and figure it out from there.
Pick: Asuka
Kaden: After Asuka loses against Bayley, Bayley causes Sasha to lose her Raw title, leading to the breakup. Then we can see Asuka vs Shayna for the fall.
Pick: Asuka

Braun Strowman (c) vs The Fiend – Falls Count Anywhere Match for the Universal Championship
Evan: Is Strowman actually heel, or is he playing The Fiend’s game better than him? This segment of the feud had the potential to be truly psychological, but I’m afraid WWE is going to not stick the landing. The Fiend weirdly needs this win to be seen as a threat like he was last year. Time to bring the belt back to the Funhouse.
Pick: The Fien
Javier: Bald Strowman just can’t hang. He’s not finished with the Fiend, but he is finished with the Universal Championship.
Pick: The Fiend
Kaden: Get the belt off Braun.
Pick: The Fiend

Drew McIntyre (c) vs Randy Orton – WWE Championship
Evan: What will Retribution do at Summerslam? I haven’t had a spot to talk about them yet, so I just wanted to get that in there. Maybe they’ll break up a match or cause some havoc in the Thunderdome? Who knows. What I do know is that McIntyre will retain here and lose at Payback later.
Pick: Drew McIntyre
Javier: “You never see it coming.” – That line keeps getting stuck in my head when I think about this match. Orton punted Ric Flair, but we didn’t see it. I think Flair comes out and costs McIntyre his title. I hate that McIntyre’s run is being cut so soon, but Orton is on fire and there really isn’t anyone for McIntyre to feud with anymore.
Pick: Randy Orton
Kaden: A week ago I would’ve picked Orton but I think that Vince has changed his mind on this match. Drew has been on fire lately and he shouldn’t lose the belt now.
Pick: Drew McIntyre
Summerslam 2020 is going to be another strange pay-per-view, but WWE has mostly nailed the quality so far during the pandemic. It should be an enjoyable night of wrestling, and we’ll have all the coverage for you. Follow along with us on Twitter at @FPC_Wrestling.
