WWE NXT Results

This week’s NXT was all about the title matches. Two title matches anchored the show: Breezango defended the tag titles against Imperium, and Damian Priest defended the North American title against Timothy Thatcher. Also William Regal promised two big announcements. What went down on NXT? Here are the results:

• Tommaso Ciampa def. Desmond Troy
• KUSHIDA def. Austin Theory
• Breezango (c) def. Imperium to retain the NXT Tag Team Championships
• Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter def. Jessi Kamea & Xia Li
• Drake Maverick & Killian Dain def. Undisputed Era by disqualification
• Damian Priest (c) def. Timothy Thatcher to retain the NXT North American Championship

William Regal’s two big announcements had to do with the men’s & women’s title scenes. The first is that there will be a battle royale next week to determine a new challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship. His second announcement was a gauntlet eliminator match to determine the men’s challenger. The competitors will be named before next week.

AEW Signs Will Hobbs

All Elite Wrestling continues to expand the roster. On Wednesday they announced that they’ve signed Will Hobbs to the roster. A frequent flyer on AEW Dark, Hobbs also appeared in the Casino Battle Royale at All Out.

It didn’t take long for AEW to insert Hobbs into a storyline. He came to the aid of Jon Moxley on Dynamite as the champ fended off Lance Archer, Brian Cage & Ricky Starks. NXT Signs Wade Barrett to Commentate

The NXT commentary desk is going to have a new voice for the foreseeable future. WWE announced that Wade Barrett has been re-signed to WWE and will be on the NXT announce desk. Barrett has been next to Vic Joseph & Beth Phoenix on the NXT desk for a few weeks now and has done an excellent job. He’s made a great transition to the commentary desk, and NXT is better off with him.

One for the Road:

An update on the court case of the man who attempted to kidnap Sonya Deville. He entered a plea of not guilty (h/t WrestlingInc) and could face up to life in prison.
