Welcome to Week Two Live Blog  in one of the strangest NFL seasons maybe ever on record. Unfortunately, the Patriots will be playing with a heavy heart tonight after the tragic passing of James White’s father today in a car crash. Please keep Mr. White, his wife who is still in critical condition, and the rest of the White family in your thoughts.

The Patriots are in the deep west tonight as the take on the Seahawks in Seattle. No 12th man will make a difference as Cam Newton tries to pick up his second win as the Patriots starting quarterback. The defense will have their hands full with Russell Wilson, but they have the secondary to get the job done.

Check out the inactives below:

Patriots- Josh Uche, Dalton Keene, James White, Jarrett Stidham, Korey Cunningham, Myles Bryant

Seahawks- WR Phillip Dorsett II RB Deejay Dallas LB D’Andre Walker OT Cedric Ogbuehi DE Rasheem Green DE Alton Robinson

Stay with our Week Two Live Blog for an entertaining live look at an interesting matchup. Enjoy the game everyone!

FIRST QUARTER

15:00- The Seahawks offense will take the field to begin the night. 1st & 10 from their own 25…

14:55- Nine-yard reception by Dissly; 2nd & 1…

14:25- Carson runs for two, maybe three; 1st & 10…

13:39- TOUCHDOWN, PATRIOTS!! Pick Six for Devin McCourty on the Olsen deflection (perfect throw) and McCourty takes it to the house! Patriots 7, Seahawks 0

13:30- Kick returned to the 25; 1st & 10…

13:25- Gain of six on the run; 2nd & 4…

12:50- Gain of five; 1st & 10…

12:13- Hyde picks up six on the catch out of the backfield; 2nd & 4…

11:50- Wilson runs for six and another Seahawk first down; 1st & 10…

10:48- Gain of one on the run; 2nd & 9…

10:10- Lockett makes the catch, cutbacks and picks up 11 and another 1st down; 1st & 10 from the Patriots 40…

9:46- Carson runs for eight but it’s negated by an illegal crack back (garbage) block. Ridiculous. 1st & 25…

9:21- Seahawks immediately get 16 back; 2nd & 9…

8:42- The Patriots are in zone because they’re afraid of Wilson running, but he does it anyways. 1st & 10 from the Patriots 18…

7:56- Gain of six; 2nd & 4…

7:29- Carson runs for three; 3rd & 1…timeout, Seahawks.

6:48- Carson gains four and the Seahawks have 1st & Goal from the four…

6:07- No gain, tackle made by Bentley; 2nd & Goal…

5:27- Touchdown, Seahawks. Lockett makes the catch because Wilson is ridiculous. Sorry, I would take him over Mahomes. Impressive drive that is likely to force the Patriots to make coverage adjustments; Patriots 7, Seahawks 7

5:21- Michel runs for three; 2nd & 7…

4:39- Byrd makes the catch for 13; 1st & 10…

4:08- Michel runs for a gain of three; 2nd & 7…

3:26- Newton escapes a sack bu he is forced to throw it away; 3rd & 7…

3:20- Byrd again, once again for 13; 1st & 10…

2:43- Michel runs hard for five yards; 2nd & 5…

2:07- Just one on the Michel run; 3rd & 4…

1:49- Burkhead takes the read-option for one yard; 4th & 3 and the offense remains on the field…

:49- Harry with the catch and gets CRUSHED illegally. The fact he held on is simply amazing. There was also a hold called, but that will likely be declined.

:28- Michel runs for four yards on 1st & Goal; 2nd & Goal from the six…

SECOND QUARTER

14:46- Newton appeared to score (he was in) but they said he was down; 2nd & Goal…

13:59- TOUCHDOWN, PATRIOTS!! Newton makes it look easy as he basically steps left and into the end zone untouched for six. Man, he is fun to watch, and he also had a great series through the air. This offense is very interesting and is going to continue to evolve. Harry’s catch in traffic and after the ejection-causing hit showed that he has huge ones. Patriots 14, Seahawks 7

13:53- Bad coverage and the Seahawks will start from their own 43…

13:43- Hyde with the catch and run for nine (he trucked Phillips); 2nd & 1…

13:05- Hyde slams ahead from three; 1st & 10. This game is PHYSICAL…false start, Seattle, 1st & 15…

11:21- Bad read by Bentley allows Hyde to run for 12; that can’t happen. 3rd & 3…

10:43- SACK! Wilson never had a chance after Winovich TOSSED Hyde. The Patriots will take over at their own 10. 1st & 10…

9:56- Michel for two on what appeared to be a bad injury for a Seahawk defender. That looks bad, I didn’t see who it was…

9:40- Bad throw by Newton almost leads to a pick-six…3rd & 9…

9:35- Newton gains eight when they needed nine; 4th & 1 and the Patriots will punt…

8:48- Great roll on the 57-yard punt; the Seahawks take over at their own 25.

8:45- Eight-yard gain on the throw & catch; 2nd & 2…

8:15- Slant to Metcalf for 15; that was too easy, Gilmore has to read that better; 1st & 10…

7:41- Carson runs for two tough fought yards; 2nd & 8…

6:57- Touchdown, Seahawks. Metcalf beats Gilmore for a 52-yard touchdown. Gilmore can’t cover himMetcalf solo, he needs some help. Metcalf is becoming an absolute terror (I thought it would take longer. I was wrong.) Patriots 14, Seahawks 14

6:48- Incomplete to Byrd; 2nd & 10…

6:43- Newton to Edelman for a gain of eight; 3rd & 2…let Cam throw it a little!

6:02- Newton went through the whole tree before deciding on the smart checkdown; love it. 1st & 10…

5:31- 15 more on the screen to Burkhead; 1st & 10…btw- the road uniforms are better than the home.

5:01- Burkhead runs for two; 2nd & 8…

4:21- Reverse toss play to Burkhead is blown up; not a very good design; Folk for three…and it is not even remotely close. Let Cam throw it more, PLEASE. Here comes Russ & the impressive Seahawks offense…

3:32- Gain of nine on the catch; 2nd & 1…

3:09- Carson for no gain; 3rd & 1…

2:24- Moore gains three on the crossing route for a 1st down; nice catch. We are at the two-minute warning in a game that is pretty much what was expected- big plays from talented well-coached players. Patriots 14, Seahawks 14

2:00- False start, 1st & 15…

1:56- Incomplete pass to Metcalf; 2nd & 15…

1:43- Wilson was over the LOS on the pass which pushes them back five yards and they lose the down; 3rd & 20…

1:38- Defensive holding bails out the Seahawks; that is such a stupid play. 1st & 10…

1:31- A strong run is coming back on a hold; 1st & 20 on this penalty drive…

1:23- SACK! Calhoun makes the play this time with help from Chase Winovich; 2nd & 26…

:38- 10-yard run (far too much) and the Seahawks take a timeout; 3rd & 16…

:28- Incomplete pass to Metcalf and the Seahawks will punt into a heavy rush; great punt, it landed at the Patriots two-yard line. 1st & 10 and they will definitely take a lunging forward knee.

HALFTIME

THIRD QUARTER

15:00– The Patriots offense will take over at their own 25. The first pass by Newton was batted down; 2nd & 10…

14:51- Newton off the mark to Harry and the Patriots already face 3rd & 10…

14:40- Newton escapes, hits Edelman for 15 (who hurt his neck); 1st & 10…

13:56- Michel runs for four; 2nd & 6…

13:45- Drop by Edelman on the waggle cross; 3rd & 6…

13:17- Beautiful throw by Newton into traffic; that was legit. 1st & 10…

12:38- Newton hits Edelman for 29 yards and the Patriots are at the Seattle 20; 1st & 10…

12:10- Burkhead for three: 2nd & 7…

11:50- Screen to Burkhead for 15; 1st & Goal…

11:22- No gain; 2nd & Goal…

10:57- Edelman, who looks a little shaken, drops the bullet; 3rd & Goal…

10:50- Newton tried to escape but Adams makes a great play and runs him down; 4th & Goal…

10:12- Field goal, Patriots! They really could have used a touchdown there, but a score is huge nonetheless. Going down seven would be bad; going down four if they give up a TD is more palatable because they scored on the first drive. Newton made some good throws on that drive, but Edelman got crushed and looked terrified going over the middle the remainder of the drive. Patriots 17, Seahawks 14

9:16- Wilson runs for 10 & another 1st down; 1st & 10 from the 37…

8:10- Carson rips off 15 and a huge scrum breaks out on the Seattle sideline. It looked like a battle between Metcalf and Gilmore. Gilmore had enough and tossed him, all hell broke loose. Fun. 1st & 10 from the Pats 45…

7:50- Gain of seven on the run; 2nd & 3…

7:04- Touchdown, Seahawks. Another bomb, this time Jason McCourty got beat. This is gross. GTFB. Seahawks 21, Patriots 17

7:00- JJ Taylor gets *%$*# leveled and the Patriots are set back at the 16. BIG hit…

6:54- Loss of one by Taylor; 2nd & 11…

6:19- Edelman for 17; 1st & 10 from the 32…

5:54- Harry for a gain of five on the tough RAC; 2nd & 5…

5:38- Timing route to Byrd for eight; 1st & 10…

4:52- Harry picks up one on the catch; 2nd & 9…

4:30- Newton telegraphs the throw and the ball is picked off by Dunbar. That almost happened earlier, he has to know not to go back to that well because it wasn’t going to be there. That is a very fixable mistake; 1st & 10, Seahawks…

3:44- Wilson completes it for 12; 1st & 10 from the Patriots 35…

3:01- Carson should have been tackled after two but still ripped off six; the Patriots front seven is starting to get worn down. 2nd & 4 and there is a Patriots down (Marsh I believe)…

2:30- Wilson runs for eight more and slides into a 1st down; 1st & 10…

2:00- Touchdown, Seahawks. JC Jackson completely lost his guy, or maybe there was an exchange and it wasn’t communicated, but that is just not excusable. The Seahawks offense is good, but they aren’t THIS good. New England is having a rough night on defense, mainly because they have no clue how to stop Russell Wilson. Seahawks 28, Patriots 17

1:44- Edelman makes a GREAT catch for 49 yards! Great play by Newton too, 1st & 10 from the 25…

1:00- Izzo for 12 more…

:50- Newton up the gut for six; 2nd & 4…

:31- Harry for four; 3rd & Inches (Bullcrap, he got there)…the clock runs out and we are headed to the fourth. The Patriots need seven points here.

FOURTH QUARTER

15:00- Newton takes it for four yards to the goal line; 1st & Goal from the one…

14:29- TOUCHDOWN, PATRIOTS!! A beautiful play-action pass to Johnson cuts the lead to five (failed two-point attempt). That play is legitimately unstoppable. Seahawks 28, Patriots 23

14:04- Holding, 1st & 20…

13:45- Inside run for two, tackle by my guy Guy; 2nd & 18…

12:57- Good coverage, good pressure, and a flag…is declined. 3rd & 18…

12:52- Run for the suddenly conservative Seahawks and they’ll punt. Weird series, which is good for NE. Byrd returned the punt to the 25, but of course, there was a flag that will push the Patriots back to the 13. I would love to know the percentage of penalties on special teams plays throughout the NFL. I bet it is higher than people think. 1st & 10, Patriots from their own 13. Time to see if Newton can lead them down to take the lead.

12:07- Incomplete, 2nd & 10…

12:02- No gain by Burkhead; 3rd & 10…

11:22- 12-yard gain by Byrd; 1st & 10…

10:53- Harry picks up eight on the quick throw; 2nd & 2…

10:11- Foolish play by Byrd costs them two; 3rd & 4…

9:34- Wow, such an awful playcall. Listen, McDaniels has done well, but the option there was not a good idea. Even with a good pitch the defenders were there, Burkhead didn’t have a chance in hell. The Seahawks relentless offense retakes the field…

8:41- Nine-yard gain on the catch; 2nd & 1…

8:16- Gain of two; 1st & 10…

7:33- Wilson threw it away (looked like grounding); good pressure on the corner blitz. 2nd & 10…

7:26- Metcalf burns Gilmore, badly. Rough not for Gilly. 1st & 10…

6:52- Three yards on the run; 2nd & 7…

6:03- Good pressure forces the throwaway; 3rd & 7…

5:57- Wilson stares down the blitz and throws it right to his crosser for the 1st down; that is just easy for him. 1st & 10…

5:11- Carson runs for five; 2nd & 5…

4:32- Touchdown, Seahawks. Carson on the swing route and a sweet arching throw from Wilson, who I repeat is THE BEST QB IN FOOTBALL. He is better than Mahomes. End of story. Seahawks 35, Patriots 23…your turn, Cam.

4:22- Newton for 14 on the run; 1st & 10 from their own 39…

4:01- Incomplete pass to Harry; Bruce Irvin hurt on the play. Patriots face a 2nd & 10…

3:54- Edelman for 12; 1st & 10…

3:30- Byrd for 17 and another 1st down; 1st & 10 fro the 36…

3:01- Incomplete due to the Jamal Adams rush; he is a beast. 2nd & 10…

2:48- Edelman makes an amazing catch and is tackled at the goal line; 1st & Goal…

2:29- TOUCHDOWN, PATRIOTS!! Newton takes it in again for his second rushing touchdown of the night and this is still a game. The defense needs to make a play. New England has three timeouts remaining. Seahawks 35, Patriots 30

2:03- Carson rips off a gain of six and he slides down (didn’t matter, two minute warning, he actually helped NE). 2nd & 3…

2:00- Carson runs for two, and this next play will decide the game; 3rd & 1…timeout, Seattle…

1:55- Well, Pete Carroll is going to Pete Carroll. The Seahawks have averaged 5 ypc, and they throw deep on 3rd & 1 to give the Pats a chance. I’m really laughing hard right now. WOW, Pete, WOW.

1:42- Newton to Harry for 12; 1st & 10…

1:13- Izzo gains four and gets out of bounds; 2nd & 6…

1:08- Harry for 17 yards; 1st & 10…

:49- Incomplete to Harry; 2nd & 10 from the Seattle 48…

:41- Newton sprints for 15 yards and the Patriots are at the Seahawks 36. Pete Carroll looks like he wants to hide in a hole. 1st & 10…

:36- Illegal contact on Seattle; 1st & 10 from the Seahawks 31…

:28- Edelman with the catch at the 13…

:09- Incomplete to Edelman; 2nd & 10…

:03- Harry to the two!! Here we go! 1st & Goal, 2 seconds to go. Run with Cam??? 1st & Goal…

:00- Cam gets stuffed and the Patriots lose a heartbreaker. That play was…too basic? I understand they are staying basic, but I just don’t think that was a great call. Run with Newton? 100% yes, but run waggle with a crosser, something to keep the play alive, not the same overload power play they’ve already used. Seahawks 35, Patriots 30

FINAL SCORE- SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 35, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 30

Tough to lose, but there are more important things to think about tonight. We here at Full Press are thinking about James White and his family; such a tragic loss of life is unfair, especially during such a tough time.

Cam Newton was excellent again tonight (some thanks to Julian Edelman), as was Russell Wilson. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see these two battling for the Lombardi Trophy in February.

Oh, you laugh? This loss is FAR from all negative; the Patriots just put 30 on the board against Seattle, on the road, and the barely missed out on six more and a spectacular comeback win. Newton is throwing like it’s Week Two of 2018 and starting to build a repoire with his receivers. Be sure to join us next week when the Patriots host the Raiders at Gillette.

See you all next Sunday at 1:00 PM as the Patriots try to get back on the winning track.
