The season has not been a good one for the Dallas Cowboys. By all rights America’s Team should be 0-4 this season but a dramatic comeback win against the Atlanta Falcons has the Cowboys at 1-3. Problems have started to develop on both sides of the ball. At this early point of the season, some Dallas fans are already thinking about the NFL draft. We will examine the problems on both sides of the ball and attempt to determine if the season can be salvaged.
Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan is catching most of the criticism in regard to the mediocre play of the Cowboys’ defense. Injuries hit the defense even before the season started with Gerald McCoy being lost for the season. Meanwhile, McCoy’s injury was followed up by injuries to Leighton Vander Esch, Sean Lee, and Chidobe Awuzie. The Cowboys are awaiting the return of defensive linemen Randy Gregory from suspension as well. While the defensive play has been tough to watch, help will eventually be on the way for the Dallas defense.

One thing is for sure, if the Cowboys do not correct the problems soon, the NFL draft articles will start coming sooner, rather than later.
