At this point in the season, discussing a division lead in the NFC east should be taken with a grain of salt. The Cowboys currently are 2-4 on the season and lead the NFC eastern division. Both Dallas and Washington are coming off of losses and each are attempting to gain some momentum. The two desperate teams will meet this Sunday in an attempt to right the ship for both teams.
For the Cowboys to win this game, it comes down several items that will need to be accomplished. Meanwhile, both sides of the ball had failures on Monday night that are going to have to be corrected. We will look briefly at what the Cowboys need to do on Sunday. We will also look to see if it is time to start examining the 2021 draft class.
Every week we discuss the Cowboys not turning the ball over and this week it is a topic of conversation once again. Fumbles and interceptions are killing the chances Dallas has and it has been in every game this season. Quarterback Andy Dalton has got to get more comfortable with the Cowboys’ offense. Dalton will have to get rid of the football quickly. The offensive line injuries are killing the run and the pass game for the Cowboys.
The takeaway with this matchup is that it is not going to be an attractive football game. Both teams are playing ugly football and that should lead to a close contest on Sunday. Washington has the defense to cause the Cowboys trouble and a decent pass rush will be all Washington needs to attack the Cowboys offense. No matter what happens the Cowboys are going to have to make some tough decisions in the next few weeks. Depending upon what happens on Sunday, starting to look at the 2021 draft class may be a good idea.
