WWE Hell in a Cell 2020 Results
A.K.A. The One With A Viper, A Tribal Chief, and A Boss
Results:
- R-Truth (c) def. Drew Gulak to retain the 24/7 Championship
- Roman Reigns (c) def. Jey Uso in an I Quit Hell in a Cell match to retain the WWE Universal Championship
- Elias def. Jeff Hardy by disqualification
- The Miz def. Otis to win the Money in the Bank briefcase
- Sasha Banks def. Bayley (c) to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship
- Bobby Lashley (c) def. SLAPJACK to retain the United States Championship
- Randy Orton def. Drew McIntyre (c) to win the WWE Championship
Three Thoughts:
The Head of the Table
Roman Reigns is an absolute monster. We knew that he has had a change of heart since his return, but the lengths at which he is willing to go were on display at Hell in a Cell. Reigns was merciless beating down his cousin Jey. Even once Jey was unconscious, Reigns continued to beat him down. Jimmy Uso made his way to the ring to stop Reigns and protect his brother, and it looked like he got through to Roman. The Big Dog began sobbing, and it looked like Jimmy got through to him.
Then he locked Jimmy in a guillotine and caused Jey to submit.
No one in the family is safe. Reigns is truly the head of the table. Jey is now Reigns’ “indentured servant”, and WWE may not have told a more raw emotional story in years.

Longtime Rivalries Concluded?
Sasha Banks is Mrs. Hell in a Cell. Her battle with Bayley was the culmination of a Wrestlemania caliber storyline and the finale was excellent. A brutal cell match occurred between the two old friends that included a ton of weapons. Bayley kept trying to put Banks down but couldn’t put The Boss away. It was a brutal battle, but is it the end of their feud?

Let’s hope that Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton are done with their feud. There have been multiple natural ending points, and their cell match could be another. Orton has finally vanquished McIntyre and gained the WWE Championship. These two must be done with each other, so who is next for Orton? Keith Lee would be an intriguing choice, but it may be too early for his ascent to the top.

Otis Alone
WWE may have salvaged the Otis Money in the Bank run with a simple solution: a turn and a loss. Otis defended his briefcase against The Miz and looked to have the upperhand. It was then a briefcase shot from Otis’ best friend Tucker that lost Otis the match. Heavy Machinery has officially broken up, and it’s a classic jealousy angle where Tucker hates all the attention Otis gets. It will be interesting to see Tucker as a heel, and also interesting to see if Otis loses some of his charm as a solo act.

Miz is now the Money in the Bank holder, which is better for the briefcase. He is a legitimate threat having been a former world champion. Do I think he’d actually take the belt from Reigns or Orton right now? Not at all, but it’s a more plausible scenario than Otis being world champion.
Grade: A-
The three cell matches anchored an overall excellent show. Reigns and Uso told an excellent story, as did Banks and Bayley. Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton have battled each other so many times, and this was on the lower end of their battles. Still it was aided by the cell and Orton dethroning the Scottish champion. The show was also quick enough to fly by and has nothing terrible on it. That’s a grade A show in my books.
One More Thing:
RETRIBUTION feels dead in the water. They’re 0-2 against Hurt Business and seem to have no direction. I just want Mustafa Ali to be successful.
