Star safety Landon Collins tears achilles, surgery Monday
Landon Collins was arguably having his best game of 2020. He was staying disciplined on his assignments and took a fantastic angle on his blitz of quarterback Andy Dalton that led to the safety.
Collins then unfortunately went to the ground grabbing the back of his ankle in the second quarter.
Collins had an idea of what to expect yesterday postgame:
Washington Football Team S Landon Collins texted me he felt his Achilles "pop" today vs the #Cowboys and said "I can't feel my foot." When I asked him what is next, Collins told me, "surgery. I'm in God's hands."

Now with the official diagnosis, he will be heading to IR and begin his rehab.

Collins has been a candidate to be cut this offseason if his play continued to suffer. This might help accelerate Washington’s decision to free up more cap space once the free agency and draft pool settles.
What is next for Washington?
With Collins who showed improvement yesterday against Dallas, they will likely turn to rookie Kamren Curl to start at strong safety. Having the bye week to prepare the 7th round pick from Arkansas will be beneficial for Curl and Washington.
Additionally, Washington could go out and sign veteran safety Eric Reid.
Reid played under Ron Rivera and has an understanding of the culture Rivera is trying to instill in D.C.
