The Walking Wounded: Week 9 Injury Report

While it’s not quite on par with the Boston Massacre, this week’s injury report might be a new NFL record. 17 Patriots players appear on this week’s injury report. Two players even have multiple injuries.

To better illustrate the impact these injuries have, here’s a breakdown by position:

RB/TE/WR: 5

Defensive Line: 4

Offensive Line: 3

Secondary: 3

Linebackers: 2

With TE Devin Asiasi on Injured Reserve, and Ryan Izzo and Dalton Keene both limited in practice, the Patriots might not have an active tight end against the Jets.

This season, the offensive line has done more shuffling than the Raiders trying to avoid COVID-19 restrictions. That trend will continue this week as G Joe Thuney (ankle), and G Shaq Mason (calf) were limited in practice, and T Isaiah Wynn (ankle) did not participate.

CB Stephon Jackson (knee) has missed time for various reasons this year, and until today it looked like he could miss this Sunday’s game as well. His absence would be a huge blow for the defense, which has struggled uncharacteristically.

No matter how many players are injured, the Patriots won’t make excuses and will field the most competitive 53-man roster against the Jets. Here’s hoping that roster will actually be competitive.
