This move comes as a big surprise in the wrestling industry. Wight has been so closely associated with WWE and their product for over twenty years. He debuted in WWE as The Big Show at St. Valentine’s Day Massacre 1999, interfering in a match between Vince McMahon and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. In his decades with the company, Wight is a 5-time World Champion, 8-time Tag Team Champion, a Grand Slam Champion, and has dozens of other accolades. He represents another big get for AEW as they bolster their roster with legends.
Wight was last seen on WWE television as part of Raw Legends Night on January 4 this year. In the time since, his contract must have expired allowing for this new deal to be put in place.
