Well, we made it folks. The 2020 NFL season has concluded with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the Super Bowl champs. The Saints, like most teams, are now looking towards free agency with hopes of improving the team. Let’s take a look at the Tight ends which just got a little less crowded with the release of Jared Cook and Josh Hill.
I feel like if the Saints wanted to replace Cook, the perfect veteran receiving tight end on the market has to be Delanie Walker. He sat out last season due to COVID and yesterday he announced he intends to play this season. He could not only thrive much like Cook did in this offense but could also serve as a huge mentor to Adam Trautman. Really Walker’s career has been healthy and one of the better receiving threats in the league. He should be the prime target for the Saints.
While I do think Cook’s career with the Saints is likely over, Josh Hill could come back to the team on a cheaper deal. He has been one of Sean’s favorite unsung heroes and really does all the dirty work for the Saints when it comes to blocking and is a sneaky good receiver.

Now keep in mind the Bears would have to release Graham which is a possibility according to several people in Chicago. Graham also reportedly has had interest in coming back to New Orleans to play with Sean Payton (and possibly Drew Brees). Before the Saints brought in Graham there was interest before the money got involved and Graham ultimately ended up in Green Bay and the Saints signed Cook. Now, Graham had a nice run as the Bears top red zone target and ended the year with eight touchdowns. His most since 2017.
