The 2021 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching. Only two weeks out until we know who the Green Bay Packers will select. In the meantime, what better way to play GM and build a roster than to mock draft with some popular simulators. In this 3 part series, I will use three different sources and attack the draft in three different ways for Green Bay. Of course, these tools are more toys and aren’t always accurate but they get the wheels turning. For Packers 2021 Mock Draft – Part 1, The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Machine was used.
Round 1
With the mock moving through the teens some of my favorite targets were going quick. The Bears just took WR Rashod Bateman at 20the overall, meaning that my favorite Packer target was still on the board. Like Brian Gutekunst has done in the past drafts it was time to go up and get our guy. This trade was with the Colts, who gave up ick R1-21 for picks R1-29, R4-142, and a 2022nd 4th rounder.
Caleb Farley was an easy pick. Farley is my top CB in this draft and my favorite defensive player for the Packers. A back injury may push him out of the top 10 and Green Bay was willing to pounce when he got to the 20s.
Round 2
What would this mock be without some more trade action? When the Packers pick comes up they are bombarded with trade offers. With the value of the players on the board pretty even and in the same tier, Green Bay makes an exchange. They trade away picks R2-62 and R5-178, and in return, they receive picks R3-79, R4-121, and a 2022 6th round selection from the Raiders.
Round 3
With the recently acquired 79th overall pick, Green Bay selects WR D’Wayne Eskridge. The Packers get a dog to play slot and attack defenses with a different body type. Eskridge is an NFL-ready route runner and natural separator. Speaking of natural, with their natural 3rd round selection, (pick #92) Green Bay went with OT Stone Forsythe. Like his name, Forsythe is a stone wall. This guy needs some cleaning up technically but nobody is bull rushing this guy. He can come in and compete for the right tackle spot.

Round 4
The 121st overall selection was the other piece from the trade. This was a hard pick with a lot of prospects I liked still on the board. Ultimately I went with LB Dylan Moses and the upside. Before an injury in 2019, Moses was a top 50 pick. A tough tone-setting player that isn’t lacking athletically. Instant special teams ace and with almost two years removed from injury he could be back to top form.
Now for pick #135, EDGE Dayo Odeyingbo is a steal in the 4th. He’s just scratching the surface on his future potential. This guy’s motor never stops going. Unfortunately, he got hurt at the Senior Bowl. Fortunately for the Packers, that meant that he was still on the board in the 4th round. One added bonus is that Odeyingbo can also move inside on passing downs.

Round 5
At 173rd overall, the Packers choose NT Tedarrell Slaton. A massive dude that moves pretty well for his size. He’s a load to push off the point of attack. You can never have enough big boys as Slaton would allow Kenny Clark to move around.
Round 6
With two 6th rounders close together, Green Bay takes a swing on RB Jermar Jefferson at pick 214. Some have Jefferson higher but in this case, he is still on the board, making for an easy selection. Jefferson and the Packers have had contact and he fits the system. As a 3rd running back Jefferson is a perfect blend of size and excellence in the passing game.
Next in the 6th round, at pick 220 overall, Green Bay goes with WR Michael Strachan. Hey, a Division II player getting drafted why not. Strachan was a man among boys in college. He couldn’t be covered and was a scoring machine. At 6’5″ 225 this guy also fast. Good flyer pick here.
Round 7
And finally the 256th overall selection. This mock ended the way it started, with a CB. Camryn Bynum is the pick here to close out this Mock Draft. Another CB with a ton of playing time under his belt. Not an elite athlete but makes it up with football IQ.
Summary
Any draft with Farley going to Green Bay is a win. He’s got the “it” factor to be one of the best in the league. Yes, I’m that high on him. Farley and Jaire Alexander would be deadly for opponents. After that, the Pack hit on players that fill needs for the future and some can contribute right away. The 2nd round trade gave more ammo to work in the top 100. This mock will be hard to top with the next 2 coming soon!
