More Mock Drafting! In Part 2 of this 3-part series, I am using the PFF Mock Draft Simulator for the Green Bay Packers 2021 draft. In Part 1, the Packers were aggressive early and traded up in the 1st round to get their guy. This mock went a little different with a trade back after potential targets went off the board early. Find out all the results from this Packers 2021 Mock Draft Part 2.
Round 1
The Packers were sitting tight at 29 where many of their key targets went out of their reach. Guys like Farley, Jenkins, and Bateman were gone. However, Denver called and offered picks 2-40 and 3-71 for pick 1-29. With five or six guys in the same tier, the Packers love the value and make the trade.
Round 2
Trading back proved to be a good move for the Green and Gold with one of their targets still on the board. To start off this Mock Draft, the Packers select OT Dillon Radunz. He might need some grooming and time in an NFL weight room but Radunz provides swing tackle depth and meets all of the Packs athletic thresholds. Fans may grumble that this pick isn’t instant impact but with Radunz’s upside, all will be forgiven by year three.
At pick #62, Gren Bay grabs CB Ifeatu Melifonwu out of Syracuse. The long athletic corner pushes Kevin King for snaps and is the future opposite of Jaire Alexander. Melifonwu fits into DC Joe Barry’s heavy zone concepts.
Round 3
With the Broncos 3rd round pick at 71st overall, Green Bay throws a curveball but stays true to their board and takes RB Javonte Williams. Yes, the Packers just resigned Aaron Jones and have 2nd-year bruiser A.J. Dillon but the running back from UNC is too good to pass up. A top 3 RB in the draft with a top 50 grade, Williams has feature back skills and keeps the Packer backfield loaded and fresh for a deep run.
DL Tommy Togiai from OSU is the pick at 92. In a weaker defensive line draft, the Packers land one of the top options. Togiai is a good run defender and could blossom into a handful on passing downs. Built similar to Mike Daniels, Togiai should thrive shooting gaps to cause havoc in the backfield. Strong and built like a bowling ball he will force doubles to allow the linebackers to flow.
Round 4
At 135th overall, and with WR Amari Rodgers, still available this was an easy choice. The Clemson standout is an offensive weapon both in the slot or even some work on the boundary. Built like a running back, Coach Matt LaFleur would find ways to get him touches in spaces. Like in the first mock, I think Green Bay will be looking for a WR with a different body type to keep adding wrinkles to this offense.
With pick #142, the Packers add Melifonwu’s former teammate in the secondary in DB Trill Williams. Williams played mostly cornerback in College, but could be better suited as a chess piece safety. Williams can cover and tackle, and with his knack for making plays he would be a weapon moving all over the field. He plays with a fire that others will feed off. Williams will be a stud on special teams right away, something the Packers are very much in need of.

Round 5
At the 173rd overall pick, Green Bay dop back into the big boy pool to strengthen the DL. Texas A&M standout Bobby Brown III is welcomed to the Pack fraternity. Unlike the squattier Togiai, Brown III looks the part of a 5-technique. At 6’4″ 315 lbs, he looks like he was built in the lab and carries no bad weight. Brown III will need coaching up to fine-tune his play but the tools are there for sharpening.
Pass rusher Patrick Jones is the pick at #178. Jones always has his hand in the dirt in college, but he has the ability to be a stand-up rusher if need be. He could also make a career as a situational rusher on passing downs. Maybe more of a 4-3 DE, Jones can hold the edge and with teams not playing a ton of base, he would stick.
Round 6
In round 6 the Packers go offense with both of their picks. At 214th overall, C Drew Dalman is the pick. Dalman needs to get up to NFL strength but was a smart savvy college vet.
For the 220th selection, Green Bay goes with WR Jonathan Adams, who had has a monster senior season. Over 1,100 yards in 10 games in 2020, Adams is a big physical dude who wins 50/50 balls. He has the label of a possession wideout but bully and boxing out defensive backs is his calling card.
Round 7
To finish out the draft at pick 256, the Pack go with OT Carson Green from Texas A&M. Green won’t be a factor anytime soon and might find himself on the practice squad. However, with his size and ability, it is worth kicking the tires.
Summary
Trading back isn’t a crowd-pleaser but it makes sense here. It gives the Packers more day 2 picks and they add a guy they may have taken at 29th overall. Selecting the Syracuse DBs helps the secondary right away while RB Williams was a steal. Aaron Jones is a short-term move since the overall shelf life of running backs is not long. Williams gives the Packers depth, snaps over a long season, and 3 guys with RB1 talent. It also opens it up to use Jones in jet sweeps and in space while the 2 big guys in Dillon and Williams abusing defenses inside.
The latter rounds provide depth, especially in the trenches. Football is won and lost up front and adding resources to these spots and developing them into future upgrades is a good way to stay in the title hunt.
