Someone is going to have to take the Impact World Championship off of Kenny Omega. Who should it be?
We can debate all day long if the Impact-AEW working relationship is helping Impact out as much as they want it to. The presence of Kenny Omega likely brought more eyeballs to Rebellion than Impact has seen in the past. Still, having a newcomer to Impact walk in and win your championship immediately can make your organization seem second-fiddle. As Omega goes on his Thanos run of collecting world titles, it’s time to think about the eventual future. Every champion has to lose their title eventually, so the question is this: who will dethrone Omega for the Impact World Championship? Here are three options.
The Impact Option: Chris Bey
If we want someone from Impact to win the title back, it should be someone winning their first title as a big babyface. Two options came to mind for me: Josh Alexander or Chris Bey. Alexander is now X Division Champion, and should get a nice long run with that belt. That leaves the more intriguing option of Bey.
Bey has been one of the standouts of the past year of Impact wrestling. He’s the complete package in terms of in-ring skill, charisma and presentation. Bey has already won the X Division Title and has challenged for the World Title versus Rich Swann before. If Impact wants to build from within to give someone a marquee win over Omega, this could be a star-making opportunity for Bey.
The AEW Option: Adam Page
What if Impact is okay with another AEW star holding their title? In that case, it should be someone who has previous beef with Kenny Omega. What about Adam Page? The two had a falling out over their tag team, and AEW is likely to revisit their feud at some point. They could have Page challenge Omega for a title since Omega isn’t being a defending champion. Page would want to bring honor to the belt, and could then drop it later to another Impact star.

When looking at an AEW option, I thought of maybe some former Impact stars to be the one to take it back for the company. None of them felt particularly right. Christian has passed his time to be World Champion, and Christopher Daniels is the same. Matt Hardy is a heel again, Jake Hager isn’t heated enough to be champion, and stop dreaming about Sting. The other option I considered was Penta El 0 M, but Page was the more exciting option.
The Dream Option: Samoa Joe
Here is the ideal situation for Impact. They’ve recently teased more returns to the company in the wake of WWE’s recent round of releases. One of those teased was the return of Samoa Joe. What if Joe came back as Impact’s savior?

Joe is a ten-year veteran of Impact/TNA, working for the company from 2005 to 2015. He has world championship pedigree from TNA and ROH, among other companies. People know Samoa Joe is one of the baddest men on the planet. Why not have him return to run Impact once more. He can have a dream match against Omega and him beating Kenny wouldn’t make anyone bat an eye. Then Impact has a great champion to build around in their own backyard, with great feuds ready to be had by many on the roster.
