The NFL had been considered to be a quarterback’s league and it is still one of the top arguments being debated in the league till today. Eight quarterbacks were picked out in the first three rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft and while they are yet to play a single game in the league, they have all made history.
According to NFL Research, the eight quarterback that was selected in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft was the most in the Draft’s history.
Here is the list of the eight quarterbacks that contributed to the NFL Draft’s history;
Trevor Lawrence, first overall (Jacksonville Jaguars)
The Jacksonville Jaguars started their 2021 NFL Draft campaign by picking out Clemson University’s Trevor Lawrence, who came out as the first quarterback off the board. The 21-year-old, who weigh 220 pounds, will be handed his chance to start with the Jaguars immediately following his completion of 231 out of 334 passes for 3,153 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2020.
Lawrence, who ended the season as a Heisman Trophy finalist, also completed 68 rushing attempts for 203 yards and eight touchdowns.
Zach Wilson, second overall (New York Jets)
Following the Jaguars pick in the NFL Draft was the New York Jets who were able to select BYU Cougars quarterback Zach Wilson with their second overall pick. Wilson was one of the most talked-about college quarterbacks following his performance of completing 247 out of 336 passes for 3,692 yards, 33 touchdowns and three interceptions for the 2020 season. He will most likely be handed a starting role in the Jets team.
Wilson, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 214 pounds, also had 70 rushing attempts for 254 yards and 10 touchdowns. He will be watched closely as he will be included in todays main bet once Wilson start representing the Jets in NFL games.
Trey Lance, third overall (San Francisco 49ers)
Following the New York Jets was the San Francisco 49ers who responded to the call by picking out North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance with the third overall pick. Due to his performance, he was considered one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the draft following his 169 carries for 1,100 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns in 2019.
