The Chicago Bears are in full swing in training camp. They just finished their second week of camp and now prepare for their first preseason game on August 14th at Soldier Field against the Miami Dolphins. They prepare for that game by holding joint practices with Miami this week. In the meantime, here is some news about Chicago from the past week.
Injuries are already piling up for the Bears. Injuries are already killing the Chicago Bears. The team has had 16 players miss either part or all of training camp so far. The offensive line is especially hit hard. Teven Jenkins, Germain Ifedi, Lachavious Simmons, James Daniels, Elijah Wilkinson, Larry Borom, and Badara Traore have all missed time due to injury or COVID.
With the injuries piling up on the offensive line, Bars shows his worth to the team. With all the offensive linemen dropping, the coaches used Alex Bars at left tackle, left guard, and right tackle. That bodes well for him this season.
The Bears make a move to solidify the linebackers corps even more. The team signed linebacker Alec Ogletree to add depth to the linebackers corps. Ogletree adds strong play in a backup role. He announced his presence by recording six interceptions in four practices.
Matt Nagy wants the Chicago Bears defense to return to its turnover-causing unit of 2018. The one thing Nagy wants this year’s defense to do is to create turnovers like it did in 2018. He wants the defense to become obsessed with turnovers.
Trevathan is ready to have another productive season. Linebacker Danny Trevathan started out slowly last season but put it together as the season progressed. With his buddy Eddie Goldman back, Trevathan wants to start out fast and continue his effective play.

Vildor staking his claim to a starting job. Cornerback Kindle Vildor had a strong minicamp. At the start of training camp, he continues to impress the coaching staff. He’s making a strong case to win a starting job.
Nagy impressed by Mooney, says his route-running is on fire. Wide receiver Darnell Mooney wants to build upon his rookie season. So far, he caught Nagy’s eye.
How Santos saved his career early last season. Cairo Santos‘ career was on the brink after a missed field goal in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons. He realized it at that time and didn’t miss another field goal attempt from that point.
Nagy says Dalton has full control of the offense. While Andy Dalton knows that Justin Fields is the future, he knows the job is his as long as he performs well.
But Fields tries to make the final decision difficult. Tight end Jimmy Graham pays Fields the ultimate compliment by comparing him to Russell Wilson. He was dressed in full Bears gear, however. Because of that appearance, questions arose. Could he have a future role with Chicago down the road?
