Scotty Miller To Miss Significant Time For The Bucs

The Buccaneers were fortunate to avoid injuries, for the most part, during their Super Bowl run a year ago. However, they haven’t been so lucky to start their championship defense as they have already had several key players miss games with more to come. Now, NFC Champion game hero, Scotty Miller, is set to miss significant time with a toe injury according to Adam Schefter.

Despite his heroics against the Packers in January, Miller had yet to receive a target heading into the Bucs matchup with the Rams on Sunday. With fellow receiver Antonio Brown out due to COVID-19 protocols, it was an obvious conclusion to come to that Miller would see his first action of the season and he did. Miller was targeted three times with two receptions for 11 yards before exiting with the injury.

Brown should be removed from the COVID-19 list this week in time for the Bucs matchup against the Patriots so Miller’s role would have likely been minimized moving forward anyway. However, as we have seen from the secondary, you can never have enough depth at any position.

In addition, the Bucs were fortunate to avoid further damage to the offense when tight end Rob Gronkowski left the game for a period of time after a shot to the ribs and a throw from Tom Brady only to return for the end of the game. So far, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin have remained healthy, however, Godwin did miss a few games to injury a year ago.

The Buccaneers travel to New England to take on the 1-2 Patriots on Sunday.
