Tom Brady Returns To Foxborough With Buccaneers To Face Patriots

Here we go! It’s the game we’ve been all been waiting for. It’s probably the biggest regular-season game maybe in professional sports history. It isn’t just the Buccaneers Vs. Patriots, or Tom Brady Vs. Bill Belichick, It’s the greatest quarterback of all time Vs. The greatest coach of all time. This isn’t just some other player going back to where he used to play for a different team. It’s Tom Brady going back to New England a place where he won six Super Bowls and was there for 20 years. He’s a defending Super Bowl Champion which the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while the Patriots finished the 2020 season 7-9 and missed the playoffs.

Game Between Tom Brady Vs. Bill Belichick

Both teams are coming off losses in Week Two. The 2-1 Buccaneers are looking to go 3-1 while the 1-2 Patriots, are looking to go 2-2 and not fall 0-3 at home. On the offensive side, I expect Brady to break the all-time pass record by the first drive. He only needs 68 yards to pass Drew Brees on that list. I also expect tight-end Rob Gronkowski to score at least two touchdowns. He and Antonio Brown are also making their returns to Foxborough on Sunday night. I think Brady will throw for at least 450 yards and four touchdowns.

Buccaneer Defense Should Be Better

On defense there secondary needs to be better. The Buccaneers have given up 29.3 points per game so far this season. Having cornerback Richard Sherman on the Buccaneers will help the secondary he will hopefully play on Sunday. Quarterback Tom Brady tried to get Sherman on The Patriots but it didn’t work out. However, The Buccaneers seem to make everything work out when it comes to Brady and who he wants on the team. The defense needs to attack the weak offensive line of the Patriots and get to Mac Jones. It will benefit the Patriots if they get Trent Brown back to play on Sunday.

I asked FPC own Bobby Thompson what he is looking forward to the most to Sunday’s matchup.

“What I’m looking forward to, firstly is how Tom takes in the moment. The last time he was in this building, he threw a pick 6 as his last pass as a member of the patriots. But I want to see how the Patriots try to limit his production.”

I also asked the play-by-play announcer for the Patriots on 985 The Sports Hub Bob Socci what his thoughts were on the upcoming matchup.

“I think it’s really the opportunity to see how the Patriots compare to the defending champions and how Mac Jones handles the situation.”

How Will Rookie Mac Jones Handle The Hype Around The Game

That is an interesting talking point. How will Mac Jones handle the pressure Sunday night sharing the same field with Brady? Jones will say the right things I’m sure won’t say anything to the media that will get people talking. He wants to keep it to the teams playing and not any individuals. I think for the Patriots to win this game it’s for the offensive line to play better, and the pass catchers to catch the ball. Also, the defense has to play a lot better than they did against the Saints. But, again the defense is going against Brady who is going to sling the ball all over the field.

Brady has said he knows what they are going to try and do. I’m sure Belichick knows what Brady is going to try and do. That is why this game is so exciting. It’s like Brady and Belichick going against each other and who can execute their plays better. For example this line of questioning Bill Belichick was asked Wednesday about the Buccaneer offense.

On if Bruce Arians’ offense this year with Tampa Bay varies schematically from his teams in the past:

BB: Totally. Yeah. 100%.

On the offense Tom Brady is running in Tampa Bay:

BB: It’s the offense he’s run his whole career. Well, I mean, as it evolved here, but you know. The running game is the running game. The running game is different, but passing game’s the passing game. That’s pretty similar. I mean, you could call almost every play from the flare control to the protection, you know, similar to the way we do it.

In other words, Belichick is taking credit for Brady having success in Tampa because it’s his offense and not Bruce Arians. Brady took what he learned in with the Patriots and brought it to Tampa which one him a seventh championship. You could say Belichick is taking credit for Brady winning another Super Bowl because of his ego. We’ll find out Sunday who runs the Patriots’ offense better Brady and the Bucs or The Patriots themselves.

What Will Brady Do At The End Of The Game

Finally, what will happen after the game? Will the fans give him a standing ovation? Will he wave off the crowd one last time walking off the field? Would he embrace Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft? I think the fans will give him a standing ovation even if the Bucs win the game. He accomplished so much with the Patriots that he deserves it. He never got a proper sendoff the last time he was here, he needs one on Sunday. I can’t wait for the game and looking forward to it. It’s a game for the ages that will be talked about 10 years from now.
