The big news entering the weekend was the drama surrounding wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and his breakup with the Cleveland Browns. The 31-year-old, three-time Pro Bowler is landing on waivers today with his contract now available for any team to claim. Interested teams will not be able to place a claim on Beckham until 4 pm EST on Monday.
Earlier, there were discussions about reducing his 2021 base salary to help lessen the cap cost for teams looking to claim the receiver. That did not come to fruition so any team that claims Beckham would be on the hook for nearly $7.5 million against the cap for the rest of 2021. That greatly limits the number of teams that can afford him and therefore place a claim on him. The Seahawks represent the only potential playoff contender that not only has favorable waiver priority but also the cap space to absorb his contract.

With that said, it would be surprising if any team claimed him which would make him an unrestricted free agent and free to sign with whoever he chooses.
