The Chicago Bears blow out the New York Giants 29-3 and Robert Quinn makes history in the process.
Well, the Chicago Bears played their 2021 home finale and gave the fans what they wanted. They ended their five-game home losing streak and ended their home season on a good note by blowing out the New York Giants 29-3. Additionally, Robert Quinn rewrote the record books and broke a record that lasted 37 years.
This was the first game all season in which the fans felt comfortable from start to end. The Bears dominated the game in every aspect and it started from the first play. Trevis Gipson got to Giants starting quarterback Mike Glennon and forced a strip-sack. Bilal Nichols recovered the ball and took it to New York’s two-yard line.
One of the Bears’ problems this season has been their red zone offense. They went into the game ranked 30th in red-zone touchdowns. That wasn’t a problem on the Bears’ first play, however. One play and David Montgomery found the end zone. It took the Bears just 18 seconds to take a 7-0 lead.
The Bears were just starting. On New York’s next drive, the defense struck again. On Glennon’s next drop-back, he threw an interception to Tashaun Gipson. The Bears got the ball again in Giants territory. This time they started from New York’s 24. Eight plays later, Andy Dalton threw a touchdown pass to Darnell Mooney. About seven minutes into the game and Chicago had a 14-0 lead. Dalton finished the game 18/35 for 173 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
Judge decides to forget the passing game
It was at this point that Giants head coach Joe Judge decided that he saw enough of Glennon dropping back. He kept calling run play after run play. It wasn’t until there were 14 seconds left in the first quarter that Glennon attempted and completed a pass (for four yards).
It was a theme that Judge didn’t back out of. The Giants ran 55 plays in the game. Of those, 40 of them were running plays, 11 were passing plays, and four were punts. Judge just kept feeding Saquon Barkley and Devontae Booker. Glennon finished the game 4/11 for 24 yards and 2 interceptions. Taking away the 34 yards from the Bears’ four sacks and the Giants had -10 passing yards for the game. Not very pretty.
Despite falling behind by two touchdowns early, Judge did not back away from his run-first plan. It was amazing to see the continuous running plays. However, whenever Glennon dropped back you could see why Judge did what he did.
The incredible thing was that as much as Glennon struggled, Judge didn’t appear to consider making a change at quarterback. What does that say about Jake Fromm when the team gets -10 yards passing and the head coach feels that was a better choice than going with him?

Ep 161: Lions Dissapoint; NFL MVP; Week 12 Discussion
by Full Press Coverage on November 27, 2023 at 12:12 am
Bears use the final minute of the first half to put away the game
After the teams traded multiple punts in the second quarter, the Bears took the final 1:04 to pretty much salt away the game. After Cairo Santos hit a 21-yard field goal, the score was 17-3. On the ensuing kickoff, Pharoh Cooper thought the ball would bounce into the end zone. Instead, the ball fell flat on the two-yard line. He had to pick the ball up and got tackled on the five.
A few plays later, the Bears defense forced a safety, making the score 19-3. The Bears then took the ball and marched 39 yards in 52 seconds. Santos hit another field goal, a 44-yarder, and suddenly the Bears went into halftime with a 22-3 lead.
At the start of the third quarter, the Bears wanted to make a statement. They went 75 yards on 14 plays and took 5:30 off the clock and finished the drive with Montgomery’s second rushing touchdown. The score was now 29-3 and there was only one thing left to happen.

Quinn rewrites the record book
After the Bears scored the touchdown to start the second half, we got the privilege of watching bad football. The two teams traded punts, then traded turnovers, then traded turnovers again.
There was just one thing left to happen to make the fans even happier — Quinn making history. With 8:34 left in the game he rewarded the fans for their patience. After a few near-misses on getting a sack, Quinn finally broke through and got to Glennon. He got the sack and even forced a fumble (that New York recovered).
With that hit, Quinn made history and his name will forever be in Chicago Bears lore. He got his 18th sack of the season, passing Richard Dent‘s 17.5 in 1984. Additionally, he took the league lead in sacks. T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers has 17.5 sacks. The Steelers play the Cleveland Browns on Monday so we’ll see if Quinn continues to hold onto the lead.
It was a nice cherry on top for Quinn. He had a horrible 2020 season after signing a five-year, $70 million deal last year. He finished that season with just two sacks and ridicule from around the league and changed the narrative.
Quinn gives the Bears and their fans a feel-good story in a miserable season. This season was frustrating but at least Quinn gave the fans something to cheer for.
Now what’s left for the Chicago Bears is next week’s regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings. With their loss to the Green Bay Packers, this game is a battle for second place in the NFC North. That’s another thing to look forward to before the season ends.
