2022 Raiders Draft Profile
Name: Sean Rhyan
Position: Offensive Tackle
Weight: 318 pounds
When starting at left tackle, Rhyan used a thumping punch and footwork to keep his quarterback clean. As a result, converting speed to power did not work well too often and the latter half of that attempt stonewalls opponents. On wider rushes, the prospect meets the edge at the apex of the point. However, the prospect needs serious work against long-limbed rushers. Rhyan struggles with leverage issues and both, the long arm and swim.
At the next level, Rhyan could fill the right tackle spot with the high level of run blocking he showed as a Bruin. With a quick step-and-lock, he takes control of the skirmish. With his strength, the prospect can steer and drive the defender off the ball. Especially, when facing edge rushers that don’t show the complete trunk power to drive him backward. Not to mention, the explosion to meet linebackers and defensive backs downfield. Perhaps Rhyan’s best trait.
The prospect displays NFL-ready traits in this aspect. First, despite his angular frame and size, he shows the light feet needed to meet the edge rusher out on the boundary. Furthermore, the dexterity in his torso to wall off rushers that rip or bend under his initial block becomes readily available on film.

Playing three years in Westwood, helped Rhyan transform from highly-touted to grizzled veteran. With time in the Pac-12 trenches, the prospect developed a feel for what the defense wanted to throw at his offense. Instead of falling to anticipate and wilting under the blitz, Rhyan learned alignment, pre-snap tells, and the ability to adapt. He displays a feel for space against an opponent in both the run and pass.
Super Bowl: Climb The Ranks: Joe Burrow Continues To Ascend
As mentioned in various other 2022 draft profiles, the Raiders lack any semblance of either talent or depth on the offensive life. After Kolton Miller, the unit cannot seem to function with any consistency or play a complete game. Las Vegas draft Alex Leatherwood in the first round last year. To their chagrin, Leatherwood’s play at right tackle amounted to its fair share of turnstiles and holding calls. As a result, the Raiders slid him inside and played Brandon Parker, which actually felt worse. In contrast, Sean Rhyan presents a plug-and-play option that instantly improves the quality of the offensive line. Although he played the plurality of his time at left tackle, Rhyan’s hop to start feels like anchoring the right side. For one thing, he can meet power-based ends head-on, unflinchingly with the same or slightly better strength. In addition, the Raiders’ run game will benefit from an agile right tackle that looks to block multiple defenders after latching on initially. Currently, Rhyan profiles as a Day Two pick with immediate starting potential.
