Who are the top 10 right fielders who played the majority of or all of their career in the National League?
This is a talent-laden list of the Top 10 greatest right-fielders of all time.
This position always had good hitters but also had to maintain the best throwing arm on the team in most cases. These players happened to play the majority of their careers in the National League. Frank Robinson had an equal impact in both so he will appear on both lists. Tommy McCarthy was the most controversial one to appear on the list.
Here are my Top 10 National League right fielders of all time.
1. Roberto Clemente
He played with passion and died a humanitarian. He complained about every ache and pain, and yet he managed to get exactly 3,000 hits all with the Pittsburgh Pirates, 1,305 RBI, and won four NL batting titles. The man behind him had a great career but wasn’t the fielder Clemente was, and they both won one MVP Award each in the regular season; Clemente was the World Series MVP in 1971. Clemente was awarded a 1972 Dodge Charger along with the award. That car was later sold at auction in 2017 for $90,000. He won 12 gold gloves at the position and hit .362 in the two World Series he played in.
2. Hank Aaron
Hank Aaron was a Braves legend. He had a candy bar named after him. Aaron should be recognized as the all-time Home Run King. In his 23 years, he compiled some incredible statistics. He led the NL four times in home runs and twice in batting average. He won three gold gloves at the position as well.
3. Mel Ott
Mel Ott was an elite home run hitter. He had a big leg kick that helped provide his power. When he retired, his 511 home runs were third-best in the sport. This New York Giants star was a 12-time all-star and six-time home-run leader in the National League.

by Full Press Coverage on January 21, 2023 at 12:19 pm
4. Carl Furillo
If you watched the Brooklyn Dodgers, then you know. Furillo did get a batting title and had two 100 RBI seasons, and was on base a lot. His offensive numbers can’t compare to Frank Robinson, but his arm was legendary, and he was a run saver throwing out as many as 24 in his best season. That’s if you tested him. He would always get hot for the September pennant race. Frank Robinson won one more championship than Furillo, but he didn’t go up against the stacked Yankees in World Series play six times losing five of them.
5. Frank Robinson
Frank Robinson won an AL Triple Crown, Rookie of the Year, and two MVP Awards. His 586 home runs remain impressive. He played a lot at DH and first base too.

6. Tony Gwynn
Tony Gwynn was one of the greatest hitters the game has ever seen. His lifetime average of .338 with eight batting titles is incredible. Don’t forget about his five gold gloves.
7. Andre Dawson
Andre “The Hawk” was something. He had it all until knee injuries slowed him down. His 438 homers, 1,591 RBI, and 314 steals are hard to match. His eight gold glove awards can’t be forgotten.
8. Vlad Guerrero
Vlad Guerrero was the best bad ball hitter in the history of the game. He hit 449 home runs and had a stellar .318 lifetime batting average with an AL MVP Award. His arm was one of the best of his era, and somehow, he never won a Gold Glove.
9. Paul Waner
Paul “Big Poison” Waner won an MVP Award in 1927 and two batting titles. He once threw out 28 runners in one season.
10. Tommy McCarthy
Did he invent the hit and run? I don’t think so. Did he have a legendary arm? Yes. He may have stolen 100 bases more than once, but statistics were bad back in his day. He had two 100 RBI seasons and was in my book “Pioneers of Baseball”.

Aaron Rodgers, Packers Win Third Straight; Playoffs In Sightby Full Press Coverage on December 27, 2022 at 7:36 pm
Good list, but I’d have Larry Walker at 10.
Clemente might be fifth.
Aaron has to be #1 on almost any baseball list. One of the top 6 or 7 players of all time. Not to take anything away from Clemente, but he has to be beind Aaron.
Tony Gwynn has 8 batting titles not 7.
