Stanley Cup Odds: Avalanche Remain Heavy Favorites Entering Second Round

Entering the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the odds still favor the Colorado Avalanche to win it all.

The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is in the books as we turn our attention to the final eight teams remaining. Of those eight teams, the Colorado Avalanche sit as the clear favorites at +200, according to Caesar’s Sports Book.

It shouldn’t come as any surprise as they have been the favorites long before the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and eliminated the Nashville Predators with relative ease during the first round of the playoffs.

The Avalanche were the only team to sweep their opponent in the first round, outscoring the Nashville Predators 21-9 in the process. Every other series aside from the Panthers’ six-game win over the Capitals went the distance that afforded the Avalanche some must-needed rest. Especially for goaltender Darcy Kuemper who suffered an eye injury early in Colorado’s series with the Predators.

Following their game seven win over the Boston Bruins, the Hurricanes made the biggest jump in the oddsmaker’s eyes. In addition, the two-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning offer a solid option for bettors at +650.
