The Super Bowl champion Rams host the Bills on September 8 to kick off NFL 2022 but which teams have the most interesting schedules?
The 2022 NFL Schedule was released less than a week ago. And for the second consecutive year, there will be 272 regular-season games. The process of fans and media to take a look at a team’s slate and attempting to predict a team’s win-loss record has already begun.
Of course, many will point to the league’s easiest and toughest schedule – which is based on 2021 combined opponents’ records.
A year ago, AFC teams had nine home games. This season, that switches to the NFC. What’s very interesting is a look at the home field advantage numbers since 2019. Back then, home teams finished a combined nine games above .500 (132-123-1). In 2020 and with limited attendance due to COVID-19, home squad owned a combined 127-128-1 overall record during the regular season. This past season and with 16 additional contests, home teams were once again just nine games above the .500 mark (140-131-1).
As for 2022, which five slates shape up as the most interesting? It’s pretty subjective but there’s a case to be made for each of these clubs.

5. Seattle Seahawks
The team finished 7-10 and last in the NFC West this past year, the first time the Seahawks wound up in the divisional basement since 1996 when they were in the AFC West. The club kicks off the season at home vs. former teammate Russell Wilson and the Broncos. But it’s the stretch run that certainly bears watching. All told, Pete Carroll’s squad plays four of its final five games at home – including divisional rematches with the Rams and 49ers.
4. Buffalo Bills
Sean McDermott’s team has won the AFC East two straight years. The team kicks off 2022 with three road games in the first four weeks. But it’s the end of the year that will be pivotal to the team’s chances of capturing a third consecutive division title. Starting with a Week 13 Thursday night visit to Foxborough, the Bills play four of their final six games within the AFC East. That includes all three of their home tilts vs. the Jets, Dolphins and Patriots.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
New Buccaneers’ head coach Todd Bowles and his team may be on quite the rollercoaster ride to start the year. The club kicks off 2022 with road games at Dallas and at New Orleans. Then comes a three-game home stand vs. the Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and rival Atlanta Falcons. A two-game road trip to Pittsburgh and Carolina is followed by home tilts vs. the Ravens, Rams and Seahawks – the latter of the three in Munich, Germany.
2. Baltimore Ravens
John Harbaugh doesn’t have to be reminded of how 2021 ended. Hence, the Ravens bring a six-game losing streak into the 2022 campaign. They certainly can’t afford another late-season slump – especially considering four of their last five outings are against their AFC North rivals. That includes a pair against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have now swept Baltimore two consecutive years. And Harbaugh’s club was just 1-5 vs. their divisional rivals in 2021.
1. Denver Broncos
Former Packers’ offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett takes over in the Mile High City. Former Seahawks’ star Russell Wilson is the new starting quarterback and the Broncos will face his former team in the first Monday night game of 2022. But what makes Denver’s schedule fascinating is the fact that they play two of their final five games against the reigning defending AFC West champion Chiefs – a team the Broncos have lost 13 straight contests to.
