Welcome to the Wednesday edition of Full Press Hockey’s NHL Rumors! The Stanley Cup Playoffs are here and the action is hot and heavy. As the playoffs have narrowed down to a field of four, teams are always working to improve their rosters for next season. In this edition of NHL Rumors, we will take a look at the Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, and the Anaheim Ducks.
Dallas Stars – Travis Green
Rumor: Per – Dave Litman – nhltraderumors.me. The Dallas Stars already have their eye on some potential candidates to replace Rick Bowness. While Rick Tocchet and Marc Savard have already been rumored to be on the team’s radar, a new name has surfaced.

Stars owner Tom Gaglardi said, “I think we want to look for someone who is really committed to playing a bit more skilled, play a little faster, and we need to score a little bit more without losing our defensive identity. There’s a long list of coaches we’ll be talking to. I think Travis has proven that he deserves to be considered, and I expect we’ll be talking to him.”
The Stars have three very qualified candidates in Marc Savard, Rick Tocchet, and now Green. They absolutely are not satisfied with their postseason results and want to show more success going forward. While Green’s coaching record is not stellar with a 133-147-34 mark good for a .478 points percentage, he has coached in 314 NHL games. He would be getting a fresh start with the Stars if he is chosen. Needless to say, he has something to prove and could be a good fit in Dallas.
Boston Bruins – Offseason Priorities
Rumor: Per – Nick Goss – nbcsports.com. Nick Goss believes the Bruins’ top-three offseason priorities are finding a top-six center, adding a scoring winger and bringing more young players into their lineup.
If Patrice Bergeron retires, the Bruins will need a top-six center. General manager Don Sweeney also must deal with the fact that Brad Marchand won’t be recovered from hip surgery until the next season is two months old. However, everything will hinge on what Bergeron decides to do. Jake DeBrusk ($4M) or Brandon Carlo ($4.1M) could be used to acquire a center. With such free agent names as Claude Giroux, Nazem Kadri, and Evgeni Malkin floating out there, Sweeney will need more cap space to even consider them.

Other options may include Mike Reilly ($3 million through 2023-24) or Craig Smith ($3 million through 2022-23) or buying out Nick Foligno ($3.8 million through 2022-23). Needless to say, with the Bruins only having $2.84 million in cap space; Sweeney has his work cut out for him. Full Press Hockey will be monitoring any NHL rumors including the Bruins moves.

Anaheim Ducks – Kevin Shattenkirk
Rumor: Per – Michael DeRosa – nhltraderumors.me. The Anaheim Ducks traded players like Hampus Lindholm, Rickard Rakell, and Josh Manson at the deadline. Is Kevin Shattenkirk next?
Newly appointed general manager Pat Verbeek is still rebuilding the club and will more than likely be open to moving more veterans this summer. Shattenkirk still has one more year left on his annual $3.9 million deal. The 33-year-old blueliner has recorded 50 points in 137 games in Anaheim. He increased his trade value this season with eight goals, and 27 assists playing in all 82 games. If another team is interested in a defenseman who is skilled on the power play and shoots from the right side, they will be contacting Verbeek this summer.
There’s no secret that the Ducks are turning their roster into a younger group. The Ducks are ranked 13th in average player age and Shattenkirk just may not fit in any longer. If Verbeek is rebuilding towards younger players, he will see what kind of deal he can get for the veteran D-man.
That about does it for this edition of NHL rumors. Be sure to check back for the Sunday edition!
