Aaron Rodgers has won the NFL MVP award four times in his career, including back-to-back seasons in 2020 and 2021. Can he complete the 3-Peat?
Reigning, defending back-to-back MVP Aaron Rodgers said he will “definitely” retire a Packer. The question is when will that be. However, the good news is that he will be under center in Green Bay during the 2022 season. Ultimately, the goal is always to win a Super Bowl title for the Green Bay Packers. But could Rogers match Brett Favre, and become only the second player in NFL history to 3-Peat as league MVP?
The short answer is yes, yes of course he can win the MVP again. After two down seasons in 2019 and 2020, Aaron Rodgers was rejuvenated and put up historic back-to-back seasons. In the Matt LaFleur system, Rogers is thriving as he ages. He will only grow more this season as they unveil new wrinkles.

Rodgers is also one of the greatest passers of all time and does not play recklessly. Nobody is safer with the football and can fit it into tighter windows than Aaron Rodgers. Even to a fault at times, Rodgers will not risk a bad play. With his arm talent still top-notch and his football IQ at an elite level, Aaron Rodgers will always be in the mix for an MVP.
Aaron Rodgers MVP in 2022?
The realistic and honest answer is probably not. Winning a single MVP is extremely difficult and three in a row it is almost impossible. The sheer numbers and success is hard to retain in a league full of legit candidates all vying for the highest individual award. And that’s okay! Green Bay does not need Aaron Rodgers to win the MVP to achieve the ultimate goal. Sure they need him to be his usual efficient self, but don’t expect the eye-popping numbers. With the departure of Davante Adams, the Packers’ attack might shift slightly. Aaron Rodgers is still going to sling the ball, but the offense could start through the run game.

Ep 114: Aaron Rodgers, OBJ, and The New York Jets
by Full Press Coverage on March 25, 2023 at 12:09 am
The Green Bay Packers are going to try and beat up teams with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Off the run game, they will work the passing attack to keep teams off balance and vulnerable. Rodgers will have to gain a certain level of chemistry with new targets since his security blanket is headed to Las Vegas. This could take time but when Rodgers goes through his progressions and hits the right read, he’s a surgeon with the football.
Green Bay has also invested a ton in the defense and will expect them to keep teams scoring at bay. The old days of scoring 40 and winning shootouts are over. Similar to San Francisco’s style, Green Bay will try to smother teams with a dominant defense, run the football and take shots in advantageous situations. The best-case scenario for the Packers is that their world-class quarterback leads the team to the playoffs where they can try to overcome the demons of recent post-season results. If we get an Aaron Rodgers MVP campaign for the third straight season, then that’s icing on the cake.

Answering the question of will Rodgers 3-Peat as MVP, my answer is no. He will likely have a great season and the Green Bay Packers will be in the running for a title. I can see a stat line of 3700/32/8, for which 99% of quarterbacks would take as a career year. For Aaron Rodgers, he probably falls short of an MVP season but the efficiency could still make for a special year.
