The Green Bay defense will need to pay extra attention to certain receiving corps throughout the 2022 season. Especially these Opposing Pass Catching Rankings from the upcoming Packers Schedule.
As we creep through June let’s take a look at position groups of Packer opponents. Green Bay will face several stellar passing attacks in 2022 but here are the top five opposing receiving groups. In the 21th century NFL, the arial attack have gotten more and more potent. So thatès why it is quite pertinent to have these Pass Catching Rankings.
5. Philadelphia Eagles
Eagles fans have to love what 2021 rookie DeVonta Smith brought to the table. After questions about his size and athletic ability, Smith went out and proved doubters wrong by producing over 900 yards, 5 touchdowns and some highlight-reel catches. Philadelphia got aggressive in this year’s draft and used one of their 3 first-round picks to trade for A.J. Brown. Brown is a big physical alpha wide receiver that pairs well with Smith.
Rounding out the wide receiver group Quez Watkins works well in the slot while Zach Pascal comes over from Indianapolis to add depth. Gone is Zach Ertz but tight end Dallas Goedert is a solid starter. This offseason, the Eagles added pass-catching talent to an already strong running game.
4. Miami Dolphins
Like Philadelphia, the Dolphins really beefed up their wide receiver room this off-season. After a strong rookie campaign from another Alabama alum, the electric Jaylen Waddle, Miami made a huge splash to add talent. In a blockbuster trade with the Chiefs, the Dolphins acquired the services of the fastest wide receiver in the league, Tyreek Hill. The three-time All-Pro has torched defenses and has been over a 1,000 yards during 4 of the last 5 seasons. What Waddle and Hill lack in size is trumped with their speed and big-play ability.
The Dolphins also added Cedrick Wilson from Dallas in order to add more size to the wide receiver room. If that trio wasn’t enough, Miami also has the ultra-talented Mike Gesicki at tight end. Gesicki is coming into his own and is one of the better young tight ends in the league.

3. Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings may have arguably the best one-two punches at wide receiver in the NFL. Justin Jefferson has taken the league by storm in his first two seasons as a pro. Already over 3,000 yards and 17 touchdowns in his young career, Jefferson has emerged as a top 5 wide receiver in the league. His partner in crime is a tough matchup in his own right. Adam Thielen has been a touchdown machine, especially in the last 2 seasons. Thielen is a tough rugged player that has given fits to some of the best cornerbacks in the game.

Ep 114: Aaron Rodgers, OBJ, and The New York Jets
by Full Press Coverage on March 25, 2023 at 12:09 am
After those two monsters, the next wide receiver on the depth chart, K.J. Osborn, put together a solid 2021. Osborn had 7 touchdowns and 655 yards. Most NFL teams aren’t equipped in the secondary to stop this group. Let’s not forget the return of tight end Irv Smith. The young player missed all of the 2021 campaign with an injury. Unfrotunetly for the Packers, one of the bette rteams in these pass catching rankings are a divisional foe.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
These top two teams are in a tier above the rest and hard to rank. Starting with the Buccaneers, they possess two true alpha wide receivers types at their disposal. What I like most about Mike Evans and Chris Godwin is how the duo compliment each other. For instance, Evans is a huge physical specimen that just bullies cornerbacks. Most impressively, he has been over 1,000 yards every single season of his career. Chris Godwin isn’t built like Evans but is still a nice size wide receiver at 6’1″ 210 lb. He has also been incredibly efficient over the last couple of years. Godwin is a stellar route running runner with strong hands and good speed.
Tampa Bay’s depth also puts them this high. Russell Gage had a good year in Atlanta and now is a luxury as a 3rd option. Both Tyler Johnson and Breshad Perriman have flashed their skills and are great depth pieces. This is a scary good group of pass-catchers, without even mentioning any potential tight ends at the team’s disposal.

1. Los Angeles Rams
After a historic year by Cooper Kupp, the Rams earned the top spot in this ranking. Kupp just couldn’t be stopped last year and don’t expect much to change. You would think losing Robert Woods to injury and not resigning Odell Beckham would hurt this group but it may have gotten stronger. Long-time Bear Allen Robinson joins the party in Los Angeles. Robinson could be one of the most overlooked wide receivers in football. In those bad Chicago offenses, Robinson still got the job done. He and Kupp are going to be nasty together.
Van Jefferson is going to thrive while teams try to slow his wide receiver buddies down. Furthermore, tight end Tyler Higbee has been steady at tight end and rounds out this top unit going into 2022.
