Kevin Durant Odds: Suns, Heat Betting Favorite

A day after Kyrie Irving signed his player option for 2022-23, Nets star Kevin Durant reportedly asked for a trade out of Brooklyn.

It’s been a bumpy road from the beginning of the Durant-Irving era and most recently their season ended in a four-game sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics. According to reports, the Nets are seeking at least two all-star players in return for Durant. If Brooklyn holds firm to that asking price, it is likely Durant will not be traded, however, if an agreement can be made, the Suns and the Heat are the early betting favorite to land the former MVP.

It makes sense why the Suns and the Heat are at the top of the list considering those are two teams Durant has shown interest in going to. The Suns represented the West in the NBA Finals in 2021 and the Heat represented the East against the Lakers in 2020 and were one win away from returning this season. The Philadelphia 76ers have also shown interest but have the seventh-best odds at +1200.

This year’s Eastern Conference champion, the Boston Celtics, share the same odds as the 76ers. Back when Durant was a free agent and ultimately chose Golden State, the Celtics pulled out all the stops to try and bring KD to Boston. The team is a tad bit different now but there is some familiarity with Team USA teammate, Jayson Tatum and Celtics head coach, Ime Udoke, who was an assistant with the Nets before taking the Celtics job this season.

The NBA offseason has just begun but it is shaping up to be a wild one.
