Early 2022 NFL MVP Odds: Bills’ Josh Allen Favored

We are still a few weeks from the start of NFL training camp, however, it is never too early to discuss the early 2022 NFL MVP odds.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the two-time reigning league MVP and has won four throughout his Hall of Fame career. However, at +1000, he currently has the fourth-best odds to win his third in a row. As efficient as Rodgers was in 2021, the Packers saw one of their best playmakers on offense, Davante Adams, get traded to the Las Vegas Raiders and oddsmakers have taken note. Especially with Adams last year, the Packers only scored the 10th most points in the league.

2021 league MVP runner-up, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, has slightly better odds than Rodgers at +900. Despite playing in his 21st season at the age of 44, you can make a powerful argument that Brady was actually the better quarterback between him and Rodgers and that, perhaps, he should have won the MVP award a year ago. Unfortunately, efficiency reigned supreme and the award went to Rodgers. With that said, with Brady a month shy of turning 45, oddsmakers are clearly not turned off by his age or his very brief retirement earlier this spring. Based on the last time we saw him, he clearly hasn’t lost anything physically as he led the league in pass attempts, completions, yards (5,316), and touchdowns (43). Can Brady have his third 40-touchdowns season with the Buccaneers?

So, if not Rodgers or Brady, who is the NFL MVP favorite?

That would be Buffalo Bills quarterback, Josh Allen.

The last time we saw Josh Allen, he was walking off the field with 13 seconds remaining in the Bills Divisional Round matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately for Allen and Bills Mafia, that was the last we saw of him for the 2021 season. The Chiefs won the game and moved on to face the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game. Despite falling short of the Super Bowl, Allen and the Bills are the early favorites to reach Super Bowl LVII in Phoenix and it’s in large part due to the hype surrounding their fifth-year quarterback.

Along with Allen, Brady, and Rodgers, Chiefs quarterback and 2018 NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes (+900), has the second-best odds to win next year’s award. After beating Allen and the Bills, Mahomes and the Chiefs fell flat in their AFC Championship Game loss to Joe Burrow and the Bengals and then saw superstar wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, land in Miami during the offseason. However, if the Chiefs are going to contend for another Super Bowl this season, the oddsmakers have a lot of faith in Mahomes being the driving force of that, despite losing Hill.
