Five NFL Players Expected to Be Big in 2022 -

It all seems a long time ago now that the Los Angeles Rams won Super Bowl LVI at their homefield after heavily investing in some of the NFL’s biggest names during the season. The plan worked and now the Rams have to figure out how to do it all over again and win back-to-back championships for the first time in 18 years.

A lot will happen over the next few months – of course – and betting on the NFL has shown that everyone has an opinion. But there are some players with huge expectations this season. We have picked out five of these players who could be the difference between their teams going deep into the playoffs or finishing the year early.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Rodgers is hardly an unknown quantity. It would have been really interesting to see how he would get on at another team, after threatening to leave Green Bay. But he has now made up with the front office and seems ready to accept new QB Jordan Love as a successor, rather than his replacement.

But, for all his undoubted skills, Rodgers has only won one Super Bowl in his career – and that was 13 years ago. The Packers should be just fine for the postseason and Rodgers could well pick up yet another MVP award along the way. But he will have to do without his favorite receiver as well as proving he still has what it takes.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

The Packers and Aaron Rodgers worked out their differences in time for the new season. But the Ravens are still keeping Lamar Jackson waiting for his contract extension – and that could be a dangerous path to follow as the new season becomes ever closer.

But whatever happens off the field, we are expecting great things from the dual threat QB this year. Jackson revolutionized the position when he first appeared in the NFL in 2018. He has already won an MVP award but was unable to lead Baltimore to the playoffs last year because of injury. Now he’s on the way back.

Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders

For a while it seemed one of the sticking points with the Aaron Rodgers deal was the future of Davante Adams. But then the Packers QB decided to stay while Adams made the move to Las Vegas. He is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL – but will he be able to bring success to the Raiders?

The Raiders have been pretty quiet in the postseason since well before moving back to Oakland in 1995. There was a Super Bowl loss in 2002, but there have been just two playoff games since then. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

Speaking of NFL teams that used to be good, the Dolphins treated the Super Bowl like a regular vacation day for a while. But there are not many football fans under the age of 30 that will even remember Miami making it to the postseason too much now. Tua Tagovailoa is supposed to be the man to change all that.

Tagovailoa broke all kinds of records at Alabama but has not quite been able to set the NFL alight as yet. Injuries and differences with head coach Brian Flores have not helped. But now Tagovailoa has a new coach who really believes in him and an offensive line that will run the ball and take the pressure off the main man.

Gabriel Davis, Buffalo Bills

The Bills have become many people’s favorite to win Super Bowl LVXII in Glendale, Arizona next February. QB Josh Allen is one of the main reasons for that – but Buffalo will get nowhere if he doesn’t get some help from his offensive team. Gabriel Davis could be about to play a very important season, therefore.

He has played in every single game since joining the Bills in 2020 and really came to the fore in the playoff win over the Chiefs last season. Four TDs and 200 yards showed what Davis can do – and he will be hoping for more in 2022.
