The college football season has been exciting every week for many reasons. Whereas with the NFL start, many upsets and surprises have led to interesting starts and disappointments for many teams. There is of course a major game for the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. We will have our final headlines and x factors article drop later today. Which team will drop to 2-2 between the Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
Obviously, it is never too early to think about possible draft prospects for next spring. With some positions being lighter on long-term contracts and potential needs, Kansas City will have eyes on certain spots. Each weekend, we will be listing some prospects to keep in mind as possible fits for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 NFL Draft. Be on the lookout for different prospect names each and every week. Here are five players for Chiefs fans to monitor in Week 5 of college football. Let’s kick it off.
OT Dawand Jones, Ohio State
Opponent: Rutgers
Kickoff: Saturday, October 1 at 3:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network
When looking at Dawand Jones, he could possibly have a seamless transition from the Ohio State offense into an offense like Kansas City’s. He currently aligns at right tackle for the Buckeyes. With his sufficient length and power at the point of attack, Jones is perfect for the spread offense. His overwhelming strength creates significant movement in the running game. Additionally, Jones is generally consistent in maintaining a firm base and square frame against opposing defensive linemen. With long-term questions at offensive tackle, Chiefs fans need to pay attention to Dawand Jones throughout this season.
EDGE Will McDonald IV, Iowa State
Opponent: Kansas
Kickoff: Saturday, October 1 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2
Will McDonald IV is a unique defender on the edge of the Cyclones’ defensive line. He may not be the most massive edge player. However, his mix of height, speed and plethora of pass rush moves make McDonald IV intriguing. His quickness around the corner may be his greatest asset and most preferred move. On the other hand, McDonald IV can bend and dip around the edge, while also being able to rip under blocks. Opposing blockers simply have a difficult time getting hands on him upfront. McDonald IV is far from a finished product and a peculiar defender. His test against the versatile Kansas offensive attack will be a great measuring stick.

CB Emmanuel Forbes, Mississippi State
Opponent: Texas A&M
Kickoff: Saturday, October 1 at 4 p.m. ET on SEC Network
This is the first cornerback that we have had on a FPC Chiefs draft prospect watchlist this season. Despite all of the additions for 2022, some of those options will need more seasoning and fine-tuning. You also have to wonder about Rashad Fenton returning or not, as he is currently in the last year of his rookie deal.
Mississippi State’s Emmanuel Forbes could be a similar player to that of Fenton. The height and weight measurables nearly add up. Forbes has already been exposed to varying and mixing coverages in college. With the ability to press, stay in phase down the field and add speed defensively, this feels like a Chiefs fit. Overall, the matchup against Texas A&M is tantalizing, given the shakiness of the Aggies’ quarterback situation. Can Forbes show off some of his ball skills and instincts in a challenging matchup against a ranked team?
RB Tank Bigsby, Auburn
Opponent: LSU
Kickoff: Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN
It seems like some have been clamoring for a faster running back in the Chiefs rotation. However, Tank Bigsby would add immense power and toughness in the backfield. It has not necessarily been a consistent offensive attack for the Auburn Tigers. But overall, Bigsby has enjoyed a solid start to the 2022 season. With his ability to break tackles and stave off defenders in space, he is able to gain many chunk gains. Bigsby displays excellent vision and is able to win with plenty of cutbacks, if necessary.
DT Tyler Davis, Clemson
Opponent: NC State
Kickoff: Saturday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC
Injuries have significantly limited the playing time for Tyler Davis in the last couple of years. So far this season, he has only played in two games for the Clemson defense. Nevertheless, he seems to continuously produce when he sees the field. Entering this season, Davis had accumulated 17.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in 30 games. He also registered six tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks last week against Wake Forest. Not bad for a defensive tackle near 300 pounds. If he can stay healthy, the Chiefs could look to add someone like Davis, who boasts an ability to shoot gaps and collapse the pocket as a defensive tackle on passing downs.
