For the second straight week, the Kansas City Chiefs will be on national television in an evening slate this weekend. Many Chiefs fans will be able to watch other teams and top players before then, all weekend long. The college football slate is intriguing, once again. As a result, many potential draft prospects will have chances to make a name for themselves.
Obviously, it is never too early to think about possible draft prospects for next spring. With some positions being lighter on long-term contracts and potential needs, Kansas City will have eyes on certain spots. Each weekend, we will be listing some prospects to keep in mind as possible fits for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 NFL Draft. Be on the lookout for different prospect names each and every week. Here are five players for Chiefs fans to monitor in Week 6 of college football. Let’s kick it off.
OT Darnell Wright, Tennessee
Opponent: LSU
Kickoff: Saturday, October 8 at Noon ET on ESPN
Darnell Wright currently aligns as the starting right tackle for the Tennessee offense. While the size is obviously off the charts, the power that this blocker imposes is arguably his top trait right now. The movement and displacement that Wright creates as a run blocker allows for his teammates to gain ample yards before first contact. Elsewhere, this Volunteers blocker is highly impressive with his hand technique. Wright will face questions regarding his movement skills and ability to redirect against pass rushers. However, his name could continue to rise among an offensive tackle class that lacks slam dunk picks in the first round.
DE Isaiah McGuire, Missouri
Opponent: Florida
Kickoff: Saturday, October 8 at Noon ET on ESPNU
Isaiah McGuire may not appear on the top of the defensive end prospects list. However, the growth and maturity that has been shown in his game is fascinating. We say it every week. But, the size and power that McGuire plays with falls in line with what Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo typically looks for in defensive ends. One should not discredit the athleticism of this pass rusher either. McGuire has the ankle flexion and flexibility to bend around the edge. Thus, there is some potential versatility and variance to his pass rush plan and ability at the NFL level.

Ep 135: 49ers Move To 3-0, NFC South Buy or Sell, Week 3 Picks/Predictions
by Full Press Coverage on September 24, 2023 at 3:13 pm
WR Jake Bobo, UCLA
Opponent: Utah
Kickoff: Saturday, October 8 at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX
After four years at Duke, Jake Bobo transferred to UCLA for the 2022 season. After his start, this player is beginning to rise up the wide receiver ranks for potential 2023 draft prospects. The Bruins are just one of 16 teams that are still undefeated in Division I college football. Bobo has the necessary size and strength at the catch point to play as a team’s X-receiver. He has sneaky good spatial awareness and lateral quickness, to boot. With the Chiefs facing some questions surrounding their long-term wide receiver depth, Bobo would be a delightful name to invoke. That is especially true, given Kansas City’s increased size at the position in 2022.
CB Tyrique Stevenson, Miami
Opponent: North Carolina
Kickoff: Saturday, October 8 at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN2
Like the aforementioned Bobo, Tyrique Stevenson is a transfer player. He came to Miami and joined the Hurricanes after previously playing for the Georgia Bulldogs. Of course, size and length is the current trend when teams are looking to add to their cornerback position. Stevenson brings that and more, along with tenacity and physicality. He appears to be fairly comfortable when pressing wide receivers at the line of scrimmage. Yet, the athletic ability of Stevenson should not be slept on. His comfort in transitions at his size, along with the ability to stay in phase with routes down the field, are crucial for a cornerback that plays mainly in man coverage.
DE Jared Verse, Florida State
Opponent: NC State
Kickoff: Saturday, October 8 at 8 p.m. ET on ACC Network
Yet again, we have a transfer player. Jared Verse came from small school Albany to join the Seminoles at Florida State. In a couple of different games, Verse has been able to terrorize opposing quarterbacks in vital moments. His first step quickness may be the trait that immediately stands out above all else. Mainly, Verse has shown that he can attack offensive linemen in a variety of ways. He is comfortable in shooting gaps and getting across the face of the blocker. On the other hand, Verse has no issues in working around the edge by turning the corner with flexibility.
