NFL Rumors: Kareem Hunt, Antonio Gibson, DJ Moore

Welcome to the latest edition of NFL rumors on Full Press Coverage.

We are just days away from the NFL trading deadline and several players have already been on the move. Most recently, the Chicago Bears traded DE Robert Quinn to the Philadelphia Eagles, bolstering an already formidable defense. In addition, several running backs have been on the move already, including Christian McCaffrey and former Jaguar James Robinson. Could there be several other running backs switching teams before Tuesday’s deadline?

Let’s take a look at all the latest rumors circulating around the NFL.

Cleveland Browns – RB Kareem Hunt

Rumor: The Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns have had discussions surrounding running back Kareem Hunt, according to Brad Stainbrook of the OBR.

Currently, the defending Super Bowl champion Rams are one of several mediocre to good teams in the NFC, and despite their early season struggles, they still have an opportunity to get back on track in the wide-open NFC. As of right now, Darrell Henderson Jr. is the Rams leading rusher with just 181 yards on 46 carries. Cam Akers is too far behind with 151 yards on 51 carries. No matter how you slice it, the Rams rushing attack is abysmal and, according to reports, they inquired about former Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey so it would make sense that Les Snead and company would still be scouring the trade block. And, unlike McCaffrey, Browns running back Kareem Hunt could be had for as little as a fourth-round pick, making it far more enticing for the Rams.

Washington Commanders – RB Antonio Gibson

Rumor: Teams have been calling the Commanders about running back Antonio Gibson, according to Jordan Schultz.

The Commanders have a nice one-two punch in the backfield with third-year player, Antonio Gibson and rookie Brian Robinson Jr. and, to this point seem unwillingly to move on from Gibson but It hasn’t stopped them from listening, according to Schultz. For the Commanders, it wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense for them to trade away one of their few positives on offense this season despite Gibson having lost the starting role to Robinson. The duo racked up 132 yards in the Commanders upset win over the Packers and given their limitations at the quarterback position, it would behoove the Commanders to hold on to both Gibson and Robinson. On the year, Gibson has 273 yards on 71 carries and has added 170 and a touchdown through the air.

Carolina Panthers – WR D.J. Moore

Rumor: Despite receiving plenty of interest, the Carolina Panthers are unlikely to trade wide receiver D.J. Moore, according to TheScore.

As improbable as sounds, the Panthers have the opportunity to end Week 8 having sole possession of first place in the NFC South. They have already dealt wide receiver Robbie Anderson and star running back Christian McCaffrey, however, it seems as though that will be it for what everyone assumed was going to be a Carolina “fire sale”. According to reports, they have already decided to keep Brian Burns in the mix and now it seems like they will hang on to D.J. Moore as well. At just 25 years old, the talented wideout could be a building block for the future in Carolina or, perhaps, part of an improbable run to the playoffs this year. Moore has 273 yards and two touchdowns on 27 receptions so far this season for the Panthers.
