Sunday Schooled: Colts Teach Raiders Embarrassing Lesson

In front of a home crowd, the Las Vegas Raiders embarrassed themselves once again. When does it end? The team continues to lose.

If you believed that the Las Vegas Raiders would find a way to win today, you would be wrong. In front of the home crowd, The Raiders dropped another game, this time to the Indianapolis Colts, 25-20. The loss drops the Raiders to 2-7 and sinks the Raiders into an absolute abyss of losing and no immediate way out. Without answers, only questions, this franchise continues the 2022 downward spiral.

Unexcusable

Two weeks ago, Jeff Saturday sat at home, with phone in hand, discussing how awful the Raiders played. Now, he saw this atrocity up close. In his first game, coaching at any level above high school, Saturday’s accumulated 415 yards. Matt Ryan stepped into a time machine. Meanwhile, Jonathan Taylor destroyed the Raiders in the run game with 147 yards on twenty-two carries. The Raiders’ defense looked lost and whatever Patrick Graham has attempted to do this game, for the season has failed.

Tired Of Excuses

If you cover or watch the Las Vegas Raiders, you sat through multiple viewings of press conferences. Derek Carr seems like a personable athlete, respected by his peers. However, he has not shown a consistent ability to win football games. The organization bent backward, forward, and sideways to accommodate him. Yet, Carr will stand there, in front of the podium, point the finger inward and offer the same thoughts since 2014. Whether it’s financial or stubbornness, the Raiders appear unmoved to trade their quarterback. In his ninth year, Derek Carr still misses wide-open throws and feels a rush that does not exist. Furthermore, the team looks lifeless under his charge. As mentioned ad nauseum, everything around him changed. Now, it’s time to send him away.

Meaning

Under no circumstances will the Las Vegas Raiders make the playoffs. The offense looks stuck in oatmeal. The defense generates zero pressure while being unable to stop the run. In addition, the head coach was humiliated by someone that hasn’t coached a down above Georgia high school football. The Raiders lost more than a game. They lost whatever remnant of pride the team held on to. Time for a wholesale rebuild.
