We saw the typical chaos and unbelievability of the NFL regular season this year. Some teams or players shocked us more than they possibly could have, however. With that said, it is time to flip the calendar to the NFL postseason. We have roughly five top Super Bowl contenders scattered across each conference. At the same time, there are plenty of up-and-coming squads that have a chance to pull off upsets and create further chaos in this year’s postseason.
We still have roughly a month to wait until Super Bowl LVII from Arizona. There will likely be tight finishes this upcoming week during Wild Card weekend. Along the way, we could see some heated matchups at the top of the AFC and NFC. We may even see a rare neutral site AFC Championship Game, depending on the postseason results.
It is difficult to predict who may win the Super Bowl. But today, we want to look into a crystal ball, while still providing some insight and tidbits into what could make some Super Bowl LVII matchups more exciting. What are the best possible Super Bowl matchups that we could see in roughly a month? Here are five tantalizing permutations.
Kansas City Chiefs Vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles were able to clinch the one seed in their respective conference. If this Super Bowl matchup were to occur, it would be the first time since Super Bowl LII where both number one seeds squared off for the Lombardi Trophy. Ironically, the Eagles were the ones who won Super Bowl LII, defeating the New England Patriots 41-33. For various reasons, securing a postseason bye was monumental for both the Chiefs and the Eagles.
This Super Bowl LVII matchup would also have many headlines to point towards. Obviously, these are the only two teams that Andy Reid has been an NFL head coach of. Reid compiled a 140-102-1 record (including postseason) as Eagles head coach from 1999-2012. Meanwhile, he has already gone 126-52 (including postseason) as Chiefs head coach from 2013 through this season. His lone Super Bowl victory as head coach came three years ago.
Finally, the Kelce brothers would get to square off against each other for all the marbles. Travis and Jason have a podcast together called New Heights. Who knows what stories they could tell on that show going into and coming out of a possible Super Bowl LVII matchup against each other.
Cincinnati Bengals Vs San Francisco 49ers

From a historical context, this matchup would be the third iteration of these two franchises meeting in the Super Bowl. Of course, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Cincinnati Bengals both in Super Bowl XVI and Super Bowl XXIII in the 1980s. Cincinnati has still not won a Super Bowl in their franchise history, coming up just short last year against the Los Angeles Rams. Meanwhile, the 49ers have five Super Bowl wins in their franchise history. It has still been 28 years since they last won the Super Bowl, nevertheless.
These two teams are very similar, in that they can win games in a variety of ways. Both teams’ versatility creates a multitude of headaches for opposing teams each and every week. For the Bengals, their engine is the offense. Joe Burrow may be the most poised young quarterback in the NFL right now. Combine that with dynamic pass catchers Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and others, and Cincinnati can go toe-to-toe with just about anyone. San Francisco certainly has some offensive stars of their own. But, it is the swarming, deep and fast defense of the 49ers that would truly make this potential Super Bowl LVII matchup simply exciting.
Los Angeles Chargers Vs Minnesota Vikings
If you want pure chaos and downright unexplainable football, these two teams fit the bill. A possible Super Bowl LVII matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Minnesota Vikings could create a couple of different outcomes. First, this possible meeting could result in a high-scoring shootout with plenty of highlight-reel plays. It could also lead to sloppiness and poor game management from each squad. Either way, the Chargers and the Vikings would create a highly entertaining game.

Neither team is relatively great defensively. For Los Angeles, Justin Herbert has had to deal with injuries to his pass catchers and horrid offensive line play from time to time. Kirk Cousins has appeared to silence some doubters, on the other side of things. Yet, Cousins and the Vikings have been living dangerously inside of a wacky season. Neither Minnesota nor Los Angeles has won a Super Bowl in their franchise history. So if this matchup were to occur, it would guarantee a first-time Super Bowl winner. It would be a perfect finish after many years of heartbreak for each team.
Jacksonville Jaguars Vs New York Giants

The odds of this matchup happening in Super Bowl LVII is likely low. Nonetheless, there are plenty of thrilling items to point towards involving the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Giants. Both teams have already seen their young talent produce during the early stages of their careers. Names like Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Andrew Thomas have the potential to be stars. Elsewhere, each team appears to have hit on their latest head coaching hire. When is the last time that you can truthfully say that for both the Jaguars and the Giants? It is fair to argue that Brian Daboll and Doug Pederson could be the top two candidates to win Coach of the Year for 2022.
The positive about these two up-and-coming teams, is that the growth that they have shown appears to be believable. New York has instilled toughness and discipline. On the other hand, Jacksonville may have found the formula that suits Lawrence best on offense. With America loving to cheer for the underdog, this would surely be a possible Super Bowl LVII matchup that everyone would likely enjoy.
Buffalo Bills Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The headlines write themselves in this potential Super Bowl LVII matchup. For recent circumstances, it would be a storybook ending for the Bills to win a Super Bowl and allow the city of Buffalo to come together even further, following the Damar Hamlin injury scare. It is simply amazing to see the progress that he has made over the course of the last week.
Of course, the Bills have never won a Super Bowl, despite making four consecutive Super Bowl appearances in the early 1990s. They were heavy favorites going into the season to finally get the job done. Because of names like Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs and many others, Buffalo is primed to accomplish what plenty of people predicted going into this year. They have the makings of something special and could very well win it all. Yet, there is a tremendous amount of pressure that comes with being a top Super Bowl contender.
If this matchup were to occur in Super Bowl LVII, the Bills franchise would also face the pressure of having to counteract Tom Brady. Brady has thrown for 9,032 yards, 72 touchdowns and has just 25 interceptions in 36 career games against the Bills. And by the way, Brady has gone a combined 33-3 in those 36 games against Buffalo.
