NFL Opinion: Two Possible Garages For Carr -

On Valentine’s Day, the Raiders made their release of Derek Carr official. Now, which NFL teams look like the best fit for him?

The Las Vegas Raiders presented Derek Carr with a rather unique Valentine’s Day present. After nine unsuccessful years, the two parties went their own separate ways. With no amicability, each side voiced their opinions. Now, with all of that said, NFL teams will line up around the block to land the quarterback they believe will carry them to the promised land of the playoffs.

When Carr broke into the league, Dennis Allen was his first NFL head coach. Next, if you look at the offense, the Saints, in a weakened NFC South could quickly evolve into division favorites. Imagine Carr and Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara helming an offense that will score points in bunches. Plus, playing in warmer locations will help him. Carr sports a winless record in temperatures of thirty-six degrees or lower. In six games, Carr failed to secure a single victory. Carr will pay immediate dividends. More importantly, Carr’s ability should force Carmichael to scheme creatively. For example, imagine Kamara in the screen game with his ability after the catch. In 2022, he led the team with 465 yards after the catch. Now, Carmichael must use the screen, as the Saints sat near the bottom of the league. Plus, Carr shows the arm to scare defenses.

Carolina Panthers

Now, this one is a rather weird fit. Yet, it could work. Frank Reich made his name as an offensive mastermind, a play-caller that loves aggressive approaches. Carr steps into this offense with D.J. Moore and Laviska Shenault on the outside, the Panthers could add a slot playmaker and a competent tight end. Reich likes his quarterback with the ability to pressure secondaries. Carr will occasionally let one go vertically. On the flip side, he would represent the best quarterback the Panthers employed since prime Cam Newton. Additionally, Carr’s ability to remain coachable, taking instruction. If you’re honest, Carr and Reich need each other. For Carr, he earns the chance to quiet the doubters and a fresh start. Meanwhile, the luster of the Philly Special wore off years ago and Reich’s reputation needs immediate mending.

Getting Late Rather Early

As mentioned, Derek Carr enters his tenth season in the NFL. Chances remain high that his next stop will be his last. In the NFL. If he chooses wrong and the team suffers, all fingers will point at him. Regardless of financial incentives, the ultimate goal is to win a championship. Can he lead a team to a playoff win? Can he lead a team, quieting whispers about his perceived shortcomings? Will Carr adjust quickly to a new team? Or, will he play heartbroken, leaving the team that he professed his undying loyalty to? 2023 will be the defining year in Derek Carr’s career.
