With the week nearing a close, the realization of the Kansas City Chiefs winning Super Bowl LVII is truly starting to set in. It is always bittersweet to end any season, and go into the dormant months of the NFL offseason, even after winning a championship. Nevertheless, Kansas City will begin to join other NFL franchises in making plans for next season. Roster decisions, contract negotiations and more will soon fill the headlines for the Chiefs.
Before we completely flip the page and move on to our FPC Chiefs offseason content, it is time to dive into the latest headlines surrounding Kansas City. What is the latest on Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy? Who stole the show at the Super Bowl parade on Wednesday? Finally, what did Chiefs fans do for the Kelce brother that ended up on the losing end from Sunday night? Let’s kick it off.
Will The Chiefs Need A New Offensive Coordinator?
Are Eric Bieniemy’s days numbered as Chiefs offensive coordinator? The Washington Commanders have requested to interview him for their own offensive coordinator job. That interview takes place today, on Thursday, meaning we could know very soon if he lands that position or not.
Some may be wondering, why would Bieniemy want to leave such a stable foundation like he had in Kansas City? Truthfully, the veteran coach likely still wants an opportunity to be a head coach down the line. Despite numerous head coaching interviews in the past, Eric Bieniemy has never been given a head coaching gig.
It is absurd to think that Bieniemy does not have a major role in running the offense alongside head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. That is the perception, however. Yet, he may have to get out of that shadow to prove himself somewhere else. If he goes to Washington and succeeds, maybe that head coaching gig finally comes, down the line.
Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes Take The Mic At Super Bowl Parade
At yesterday’s Super Bowl parade, the turnout by Chiefs fans looked to be even greater than the parade a few years ago. The broadcast even stated that some fans were camping out the night before, just to get a spot to watch the festivities. Players and coaches were showing their excitement on the buses traveling to Union Station. Though, it was the quotes from players and others in the organization that really stole the show.
It is safe to say that the Chiefs heard all of the noise from the so-called experts last spring and summer. With all of the shiny new pieces joining the AFC West, some prognosticators penciled in Kansas City as a team that could miss the playoffs. How laughable does that look now? The Chiefs swept the AFC West, once again, secured the AFC’s number one seed and won their second Lombardi Trophy in four years.
“Before we started this season, the AFC West said we were rebuilding,” Mahomes said. “I’m going to be honest with you, I don’t know what rebuilding means. In our rebuilding year, we’re world champs. I just want to let you all know that this is just the beginning, we ain’t done yet.”
Chiefs general manager Brett Veach added to the laughable rebuilding notion. “Many people thought this was a retooling year,” Veach said. “This is what a rebuilding year looks like, right here,” he stated while hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in the air.

Lastly, Travis Kelce saved the best for last. He mentioned how this was one of the best, most enjoyable seasons of his life. “Everybody’s asking if this is a dynasty,” Kelce added. “It’s been a dynasty. Y’all just ain’t noticed it until now.”

As for the other Kelce brother, Chiefs fans were still in support of Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce after his team’s loss. Jason launched the (Be)Philly Foundation around four months ago. This educational non-profit organization helps support students in the Philadelphia area. Originally, Jason’s goal was reportedly to raise $100,000 in donations.
As of Monday, the donations total was around $9,900 after four months. As of this writing, that number has climbed to $118,440.76.
Chiefs fans have been highly entertained with the New Heights podcast that Travis and Jason have started together. In just a handful of months, it has become one of the most entertaining shows involving current NFL players. In return, Kansas City and Chiefs fans continue to show their love and support for the Kelce family and Jason.

As for some Kansas City offensive linemen, we turn our attention back to Wednesday’s Super Bowl parade. The attire of players is always fascinating to anticipate. Who will come out with the most interesting style? Will anyone’s outfit become an internet sensation or a possible meme?
The Chiefs offensive linemen were wearing t-shirts that were simple. Obviously, this group was proud that they did not allow a single sack in Super Bowl LVII. That group wanted to make sure everyone knew about it at the parade.
Center Creed Humphrey and right guard Trey Smith wore white t-shirts with a green font that read, “0 sacks.” Meanwhile, left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. and left guard Joe Thuney wore black t-shirts that read, “0 sacks, put it on a f***ing t-shirt!!!”
